In a recent interview with The Verge, Mark Zuckerberg discusses the future of Facebook, from Wi-Fi drones to the balance of powerful interests, free service, and net neutrality. In a follow-up to an earlier comment about getting his home running on the AI level of luxury afforded to Tony Stark, Zuckerberg said that he’s planning to demo the project soon, which he claims can control everything in the house: “It can control the lights, the temperature, the doors. It can make me toast,” he says.

Expanding upon that, he claims that the real challenge is getting the A.I. to know when to make toast. If it can effectively track and understand his schedule of correspondence, exercise, and meetings, it will learn “when’s the right time to and then tell [him].” Perhaps it’s old-fashioned to think that it’s usually the man who asks the toaster to make toast. What a time to be alive.
