The real test of a futuristic technology like 3D printing is how good it is at practical tasks. Michael Hackney’s 3D fly reel, tested by a couple of fishermen over at Field and Stream, probably can’t handle the strongest fish in the world, but it’s more than up to the task of catching a 10- to 15-pound trout.
