While this may be a wonderful controller, it has no place in an automobile. The beauty of most car controls is they are discrete, intuitive, and can be used without looking at them. You turn the knob to make the radio louder and softer. You slide the temperature control right or left to raise or lower the temperature (or clockwise/antclockwise). Headlight, turn signals, seats - you can use them all without a glance.

Anything that demands you look away from the road to operate - even a "high mount" video screen - is a hazard, and should be condemned, not given an award.

Given I have been a police officer for the last 20 years, I would have to agree with the comment that the controller should be banned. I can't even begin to count the number of people I have stopped for lane wandering who were busy doing everything but driving. Controls like this are only going to lead to more accidents and deaths on our highways. Although I understand and love gadgets in my car, most people can't use them safely and it's not worth the risk to find out who can or can't use them without killing people.

Needs to be tied to an AI system to drive the car for you and avoid accidents while you drive. If you're going to be a passive driver, go whole hog!

I guess I am old school, but when one is driving a motor vehicle, they need to devote their full attention on the road. This device does not belong in ANY motor vehicle any more than using a cell phone while driving. There are too many drivers out there who are doing anything BUT concentrating on driving their car. It’s bad enough to be using a cell phone while driving but some idiots do not even have their phone up to their ear, they are TEXTING!!!!

Wake up people, having an accident while negligent driving can kill other people! And using a cell phone and/or texting is definitely negligent driving. Within the past 3 months in our area, 3 people were killed by drivers who were using their cell phone at the time. Each of these drivers have been charged with negligent vehicular homicide. One is a young mother; another the professional chef at a fancy restaurant, the other a student on their way to college.

How would you feel if you were on a cell phone or texting using a cell phone and because of your inattention killed someone else in an auto accident? Remorse? Regret? What would you say to the family of the deceased?

You could be the greatest parent or grandparent in the world. You could be a star athlete in high school. You could have a 4.0 GPA in college, about to graduate and be hired at your dream job for big bucks. But you could also be sentenced to up to 5 or more years in prison if convicted for negligent vehicular homicide. Many states equate the penalty for that for vehicular homicide while driving drunk.

Think about it. Five years away from your family, your parents, your children. Five years in a tiny cell with a REAL convicted criminal, praying every day you live long enough to get out of there alive. Is that phone call while driving really necessary?
