Dewalt 4-Piece Motor Dan Saelinger

Even with all the juice an outlet provides, the capacity of corded
power tools is limited by the size of their motor. To increase torquewithout increasing bulk, DeWalt’s engineers split the motor’s casing into multiple pieces, allowing them to squeeze in more power-producing copper coils. DeWalt also developed a manufacturing technique that puts more copper into the wasted space between the wires in the middle of the motor. The extra copper creates a stronger magnetic field—and more oomph to help you drill, saw, or grind faster.

If there’s one thing I really look for in my power tools it’s more oomph! Bosch has always been a top of the line innovator, so I suppose we’ll see many of the other manufacturers soon following suit.
