A great "made in America" accomplishment for a private business venture. NASA would still be studing the project in the time it took Rutan and company to develop, build and test the whole thing. Traveling to space is a great accomplishment, but the greatest benefit of this project might be how it inspires others.
These are the voyages of the spaceship Enterprise.
Its mission, to go to the ISS
To seek out newer, more efficient ways of orbital access
And to go where no private space company has gone before
Duh-DUH...
I understand that this is a first gen. vehicle, but for all the time, expense, and effort they went through building this techno gooneybird, they could have done it right and built it as one vehicle based on lifting body tech gleened from the research of the 60's and 70's and added a hybrid Turbo/scramjet/rocket engine and made it to the ISS in on shot. But I guess they felt it was safer to go the easy(?) route first

Here is something i found about flying in this thing:
"The transition to weightless on that aircraft was gentler than it will be on the VSS Enterprise, where the gradual or abrupt fuel burn-out will be the only cushion. I flew with a bunch of Canadian Astronaut trainees and other researchers long ago. Astronauts got the full pull on that aircraft while civilians and filmmakers got a kinder 2 G ride. At least thats my evaluation from experience in a flight on NASA 930. "
Anyhow it sounds like a really great experience.
