The best brooms for conquering any mess
Make sweeping satisfying.
The modern broom owes a whole lot to the bygone corn husk and natural fiber designs that first cropped up in the late 1700s. Today, there’s a perfect broom out there for cleaning every type of debris off of every surface, from cereal on kitchen floors to muddy puddles in a basement. Some styles are interchangeable, and others are for specific uses, but if you dedicate different brooms for their appropriate rooms, you can work smarter and make your life easier.
Here’s a list of our favorite brooms currently available.
This Libman angle broom comes with its own snap-on dustpan and is perfect for cleaning messes off of hardwood, linoleum, and other smooth ground surfaces. The broom head is 10 inches wide and covered in 6-inch-long bristles made from recycled PET bottles for durability and longevity. It also includes a green angled portion designed to reach into corners and pull out trapped debris with minimum effort.
This 24-inch push broom from Quickie is a great choice for cleaning up large amounts of dirt and dust in a variety of high-square-footage areas, from the garage to the backyard. The bristles are split at the tips and constructed with a stiff inner core and soft exterior fibers, making them suitable for clearing debris from surfaces of any texture. Its 60-inch wood handle offers plenty of the control required for such a large broom, and it even swivels up for easy hanging storage when not in use.
It’s a good idea to have a small brush and dustpan on hand for the smaller spills that inevitably happen, especially those on tables, desks, or other surfaces where you wouldn’t dream of using your floor broom. This set from OXO is a minimal, functional design with sturdy bristles on the brush and a soft, flexible lip on the dustpan to prevent annoying dust lines from forming. The broom’s whisk shape also makes it super easy to control with one hand.
This unique broom excels at cleaning up messes that traditional brooms can’t. Its rubber bristles are perfect for collecting pet fur off of hardwood floors and carpeting, collecting it in a pile and making it easy to discard. Flip the broom over, and the squeegee edge can collect and push puddles and liquids off concrete, wood, and more.
