It has the potential to be used for many good applications. But, it could also be used for a number of nefarious ones. Would you trust your law enforcement agency to have some of them?

Should be a very useful tool for search and rescue in wilderness / outdoor.

Modern archaeology generally started with the ability to do aerial surveys, especially in Great Britain, I've read. This could be a wonderful tool for spotting perhaps Norse forts or other historical and prehistoric features in the landscape by visual clues, i.e., outlines of drainage and/or phytoarchaeology, some plants tend to grow in certain materials, "...surface vegetation can identify man-made artefacts buried beneath the soil."

Can anyone enlighten me about its technology?
