A Z-10 attack helicopter lands on a Landing Ship Tank (LST), even though most naval attack helicopters are flown from larger Landing Helicopter Docks (LHD). This operation is significant for two reasons: the landing of an Army attack helicopter on a PLAN ship is strong evidence of Chinese inter-service joint operations. And using a smaller LST as a refueling, rearming and repair base for Z-10 attack helicopters provides a flexible air support option for Chinese amphibious and special operations on small islands and counterterrorism, akin to the US model.
