TL;DR: Upgrade to Windows 11 Pro for $10 (it’s usually $199).
Using an operating system that no longer gets security updates is a bad idea, even if your computer still feels fine day to day. Now that Windows 10 is long gone, it’s worth it to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro, particularly when you can get it for only $9.97 instead of $199.
What’s new with Windows 11 Pro
Windows 11 Pro gives you a whole battalion of new security tools. That starts with TPM 2.0 support and secure boot, which help protect the system before Windows fully loads. Built-in antivirus protection is included, and Smart App Control can help block suspicious apps. Windows Hello also lets you sign in with a fingerprint or face recognition if your device supports it, so you do not have to rely only on a password.
BitLocker is one of the more important Pro tools. It encrypts your drive, which helps protect your files if your laptop is lost or stolen. That’s useful if you keep work documents, tax files, banking information, client materials, or anything else private on your computer.
Windows 11 Pro also makes multitasking less annoying. Snap layouts let you arrange open windows into clean side-by-side setups without dragging every corner around yourself. That helps when you are working with a browser, spreadsheet, email, and document at the same time. Virtual desktops let you separate different kinds of work, so one desktop can hold your work apps while another holds personal tabs or a separate project.
The Pro version includes tools that are not in the standard home edition. Windows Sandbox lets you open unknown files or test software in an isolated space instead of risking your main system. Hyper-V lets you run virtual machines. Azure AD support helps if you need to connect the computer to a workplace account or manage it for business use.
Copilot is built into Windows 11, too. You can open it from the taskbar to ask questions, change settings, summarize content, or get help with writing and code.
Right now, it’s only $9.97 to get Windows 11 Pro.
