This Anti-Acne Gel Now Costs Almost $10,000 Per Tube

Acne-suffering teens better hope their parents bought in bulk if they use Aloquin gel to treat their skin. The company’s new owner has raised the price by over 1,000 percent in the past year.

Just $240 bucks got patients a tube of the prescription acne gel last year, but once Novum Pharma purchased the brand from Primus, the price hikes started. The latest, this week, raised it 128 percent.

Price hikes have come under media scrutiny ever since “Pharma Bro” Martin Shkreli became everyone’s favorite corporate super villain last year. And then there’s the ongoing EpiPen controversy, where price hikes are driving some people to suggest a somewhat shady DIY option.

As one story points out, Aloquin gel not really even work, so maybe it’s time to switch to something else.
