My job is to find cool stuff. Throughout the week I spend hours scouring the web for things that are useful or fun or ridiculously cheap. Often times, these choices coalesce into a guide of like items—for example, how to build the ultimate backyard movie theater, gear for your home recording studio, or essentials for your bedside table. But I often stumble across some pretty awesome stuff that doesn’t really fit into a list. So I made a list for those.
Here are some rad lunch boxes to take with you on your first day back to school.
The monbento MB Original Bento Box has two airtight containers made of a durable PBT plastic, plus two silicone lids to keep your food from leaking and an elastic band to keep the containers together. Everything is microwave-, dishwasher-, and freezer-safe. $30.
For the dinosaur lover, check out this tin Smithsonian dinosaur lunch box. The front has an embossed 3D cover featuring the friendly faces and some factoids about all the Dinos. The back gives you more information and a view of the dinosaur’s skeletal structures. $15.
This tin, sandwich-shaped lunch box might not be as big as the others—it’s 4.5 by 5.25 by 2 inches—but, gosh darn it looks like a delicious BLT. Close the latch to keep it shut, grab the handle, and scurry off to school. $8.
The stainless-steel, double-insulated Stanley 7QT cooler—equipped with a 1.1 quart vacuum insulated bottle—is for the serious luncher. The box is sectioned off to keep your foods from mingling. The insulated bottle attaches to the cooler and is perfect for an overnight school trip or double-shift at work. It keeps drinks hot for 24 hours, cold for 24, or iced for 120. The pair weighs three pounds. $74.
Even space explorers have to eat lunch. Transport your galactic hors d’oeuvre in this metal Star Trek lunch box, with a 3D embossed logo and green handle. $15.
