Yesterday, the Soyuz capsule landed near Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, safely bringing astronaut Scott Kelly and cosmonauts Mikhail Kornienko and Sergey Volkov back to Earth.

The landing marks the end of Expedition 46, during which Kelly and Korienko spent a year on the International Space Station. Volkov was only on the space station for six months.

The Soyuz spacecraft can carry three crew members from the space station to Earth in less than 4 hours. The main parachute has a surface area of 10,764 square feet.
