In less than a minute, this pilot’s maiden flight was about to end under water. Drained of power, the engines on his drone began to fail, and his craft drifted down, resigned to sink. Zwier Spanjer’s DJI Phantom 2 finally lost all its battery juice, and thanks to video captured by the camera on board the quadcopter, we can watch its gradual descent. The drone’s reflection grows in the pond below, until Spanjer takes the plunge and saves the quadcopter from a watery grave. Given the potential drones have to save people from drowning, a man saving his drone is a nice twist.
