Maker Faire: An Underwater Drone With A Virtual Cockpit

Instead of flying, the OpenROV is a drone that swims. By streaming video to a virtual reality headset, it gives controllers on dry land the experience of exploring an underwater world. Host Katie Linendoll spoke with OpenROV’s co-creator, David Lang, about the drone’s development, applications—and the Kickstarter campaign that raised half a million dollars.
