OFFICIAL RULES

The Philips LED Lightbulb Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) is sponsored by Popular Science magazine, a publication of Bonnier Corporation, and Philips Lighting Company (collectively, the “Sponsors”).

All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply; void where prohibited. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY; A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. Odds of winning depend upon the number of eligible entries received. PRIZES MAY BE SUBJECT TO TAX; ALL APPLICABLE TAXES ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

Eligibility: The Philips LED LIGHT BULB Sweepstakes (the “Sweepstakes”) is open to legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of Bonnier Corporation and Philips Lighting Company, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies (collectively, the “Sweepstakes Parties”) and their immediate family members (defined as parents, children, siblings, spouse and grandparents), or those living in the same household of each are not eligible to enter or win.
Sweepstakes Period: The Philips LED LIGHT BULB Sweepstakes begins at 12:00:01 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on September 11, 2012 and ends at 11:59:50 PM (ET) on December 17, 2012 (the “Entry Period”). Sponsors computer shall be the official timekeeping device for this Sweepstakes.

How to enter: Visit www.popsci/PhilipsLEDcontest (the “Website”) during Entry Period and follow all entry instructions to complete and submit the online entry. Online entries must be received between 12:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on September 11, 2012 and 11:59 PM (ET) on Dec 17, 2012 (“Sweepstakes Entry Period”). In order for the on-line entry to be valid, entrants must click on the “I accept” button on the web site stating that they have read, understand and agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Sponsor’s computer shall be the official timekeeping device for this Sweepstakes. Entrants must provide a valid email address on their entry form. Any person who attempts to participate with multiple e-mail or street addresses, under multiple identities or uses any device or artifice to enter more than once will be disqualified. Limit: One online entry per person. Online entrants are subject to all notices posted online, including, but not limited to, the applicable terms of Sponsors’ privacy policies. All entries become the property of Sponsors and will not be returned or acknowledged.

Prizes/Approximate Retail Values (“ARV”):
One (1) Grand Prize: One (1) $500 The Home Depot Gift Card and 10 individually packed Philips LED light bulbs (ARV: up to $500).

Maximum ARV of all prizes: $1,000.00. Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Entry Period. Limit one prize per household. The Home Depot Gift Card is redeemable for merchandise and services (excluding gift cards) at The Home Depot stores in the United States. Gift Card cannot be used to make payments on any charge account. Gift Card usage is subject to the complete terms and conditions printed on the back of Gift Card and available on www.homedepot.com. Winners acknowledge that the Sponsors and all other businesses concerned with this Sweepstakes and their agents do not make, nor are they in any manner responsible for; any representations or warranties, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative the quality, conditions, fitness or merchantability of any aspect of prizes except that the merchandize prize shall be subject to the applicable manufacturer’s standard warranty.

Winner Selection: Winners will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries received. Random drawing will be conducted on or about December 20, 2012 under supervision of an independent judging organization whose decisions are final and binding. One (1) winner will be selected. Odds of winning will depend on number of eligible entries received.

Notification: Winner will be notified by email and/or mail (“Notification”) at the Sponsors’ discretion, and will be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Liability and a Publicity Release (together, “Affidavit”) within ten (10) days following date specified on Notification. Failure by a winner to timely complete, sign and return the documents or the return of any prize Notification as undeliverable, will cause prize to be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. If Affidavit or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, or if an entrant is otherwise found to be ineligible, or if the selected winner cannot accept or receive the prize for any reason, it will result in disqualification, and an alternate winner will be selected in a separate random drawing. If winner is otherwise eligible under these Official Rules, but is nevertheless deemed a minor in his or her state of primary residence, winner’s parent or legal guardian must execute Affidavit on minor’s behalf. No prize substitutions are permitted, except by the Sponsors who reserve the right to substitute a prize of approximately equal value, in Sponsors’ sole discretion, if for any reason all or any portion of any prize is not available. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Prizes are non-assignable and non-transferable. Any other incidental expenses on prize are the sole responsibility of each winner. Winners are responsible for all federal, state, local and income taxes. Grand Prize winner will be issued an IRS 1099 form for the fair market value the prize.

General Provisions & Limitations: By entering, participants (a) agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsors and judges which are final and binding in all respects; (b) to release, discharge and hold harmless Sponsors, and their affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, representatives and agents (“Sweepstakes Entities”) from and against any and all liability, injuries, losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind, including personal injury and/or death or property damage, in any way arising from his/her participation in this Sweepstakes, or from his/her receipt, possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of any prize, or for any error in the announcement of any prize; (c) that the foregoing Sweepstakes Entities have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guaranty, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relating to a prize; and (d) if a winner, by accepting prize, to the use of his/her name, photograph and/or likeness by Sponsors, or any party authorized by Sponsor, for advertising and promotional purposes in all media without review or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law) and, upon request, to provide such consent in writing.

Sponsors, their parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, agents and representatives and their respective officers, directors and employees are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (a) printing or typographical errors in any Sweepstakes-related materials, (b) electronic, hardware or software program, network, Internet or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties of any kind, including without limitation, server malfunction or by any human error which may occur in the processing of entries; (c) failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions; (d) lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete or illegible prize claims and/or entries; (e) error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions of any kind, or inaccurate transmission of or failure to receive entry information by Sponsors on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site or any combination thereof; (f) any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating in the sweepstakes; or (g) any condition caused by events beyond the control of the Sponsors that may cause the Sweepstakes to be disrupted or corrupted.

Sponsors reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, suspend or terminate the Sweepstakes or any portion thereof should viruses, bugs technical difficulties, suspected or actual electronic tampering, or other causes corrupt the administration, security integrity or proper play of the Sweepstakes. The prize will be awarded based on a random drawing from among all eligible on-line entries received prior to cancellation. Sponsors, at their sole discretion, reserve the right to void any entries submitted fraudulently or in contravention of the Official Rules. Entry materials or data that have been tampered with or altered, or mass entries or entries generated by a script, macro or use of automated devices are void. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH OFFENDER TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an on-line entrant, the e-mail address used to participate in the Sweepstakes at the actual time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address or phone number. Proof of being the authorized account holder may be required.

The Sweepstakes Parties disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from access to, or the download of, information or materials in connection with the Sweepstakes.

Privacy Policy: By entering, the information you provided may be sent to promotional partners identified in this promotion. You may be contacted by the Sponsors and/or any promotional partners with future promotional offers. Information provided by you to participate in this Sweepstakes is subject to the Sponsors’ privacy policies.
