So long, hamster wheels–rodents just got a new form of transportation. Popular Science reader Brian Byon built this laser-controlled rat-mobile by hacking into some off-the-shelf technology. He wouldn’t tell us exactly how he made it, because he’s hoping to market it as a way for people to go jogging with their pets. Hmm.

This is not the first invention to put an animal behind the steering wheel; last year, designer Thomas de Wolf built a car/aquarium that uses computer vision to let goldfish travel on dry land. The crowdfunding campaign was unsuccessful, so it seems there’s still time before we’ll have to start sharing the road with our pets.
