    Here is the statement I was referring to: "Now, researchers from the group of Harald Giessen at the University of Stuttgart have succeeded in manufacturing a stacked split-ring metamaterial for the optical wavelength range." It says "optical wavelength range." That sounds like the entire range, but maybe it was inaccurate reporting.
