    Drag Net

By Corey Binns Posted on 3.26.2009 19 Comments

With cop cars disappearing from his rearview mirror and an open road ahead, a fugitive thinks he’s in the clear—until his car comes to a sudden halt. A sheriff, hiding in the bushes, has activated a road trap that sprung a ball of straps into the car’s undercarriage, immobilizing its drive shaft and axles.

buddyred Why dont they develope a radio shut-off in new vehicals, a police officer could type your plates, get your frequency, and push a button. kill the ignition, lock the doors, gradually apply the brakes. and steer the car on to the shoulder. The technology is already there. Many years ago when I worked at a Ford dealer and went to a factory EEC class, they explained how they were planning to put in the GPS and other Government mandated tech into the new ECM's. GM already has admitted the ability to unlock the doors remotely, just look at the commercial about the on-star system. Shutting down the fuel pump or ignition system is no different than unlocking the doors! There is the Mega Squirt web site where you can build your own ECM and there will be no GPS and door unlocking ability by others!

qlmmb2086 03/27/09 at 2:26 pm @Ruri: I also disagree with your assumption that police are "hot headed and reckless" during a high speed pursuit. Real life is not "Die Hard"; Have a little respect. RESPECT???? I guess you missed the video where the police jumped on and started to beat an unconscious driver with their clubs who was thrown from his vehicle after it rolled (and there was no doubt he was unconscious, and actually looked dead), and continued to beat him! Those are not isolated incidents by any stretch of the imagination, and htey are a part of the reason why some run from the cops as they want to avoid another beating! And often cops say YOU assaulted them to cover their asses even when you did nothing! I am an adult white male and have had witnessed it personally! qlmmb2086, you need a reality check!

BMW Planning Electric Minis for California

By Posted on 7.9.2008 15 Comments

As California returns to requiring automakers to sell zero-emissions vehicles, BMW is apparently aiming to get in first on the gold rush. Automotive News reports BMW will export an electric version of its Mini to California. The state's zero-emissions vehicle program will require nearly 60,000 plug-in cars to be sold in the state between 2012 and 2014.

They will keep killing, or restricting the electric car, at least until there is no more oil left! The tesla company is using thousands of Lithium lap top batteries instead of just one designed large enough to fit the application. The question is, who is placing the restriction on Lithium battery size preventing electric cars from having a decent range?

New Steps Towards A Real Invisibility Cloak

By Rebecca Boyle Posted on 5.11.2009 24 Comments

Ouch, Harry Potter. Your new movie doesn't premiere for two months, yet real scientists are already one-upping you Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Cornell University both said last week they've designed invisibility cloaks that work in the visible-light spectrum. OK, so they're not big enough to cover a budding young wizard sneaking around at night, but hey, it's a step.

Scubasdsteve87 A car windshield made out of high strength metal polymers. MILLIONS of lives saved because nobody goes through windshields any more? You can't be serious? Have you seen an accident where someone literally goes through a windshield? They often leave their legs under the dash in rout not to mention the massive internal damage caused by hitting the steering wheel and dash! Going through windshields? And if it were so......... THERE IS A BETTER INVENTION OUT THERE THAT PREVENTS WINDSHIELD EXITING DURING AN ACCIDENT, IT'S CALLED A SEAT BELT! If an accident it so bad that the seat belts fail, then that someone goes through the airbag, it fails and they then go out the windshield, it is irrelevant as to weather the windshield is glass or 1/4” thick steel plate, they are dead either way! Also the government had a habit of preventing “inconvenient” technology from being applied. An “invisibility cloak” would be inconvenient! And here is one for example. There were 80 mpg Diesel Hybrid vehicles produced by GM, Chrysler and Ford back in 1996! Go to the “www electrifyingtimes.com/” web site and you can see their cover page from Fall 1996. “www.electrifyingtimes.com/DodgeESX/intrepid_flashback.html” Where are they now? Somehow having powerful oil men the Bushes in the white house had something to do with it.

Mitsubishi's iMiEV All-Electric Car Goes On Sale Next Month

By Seth Fletcher Posted on 6.5.2009 10 Comments

Today Mitsubishi unveiled the production version of the iMiEV, the company’s pure-electric car, and announced that it will come to market pretty much right away—next month, in Japan. (No North American launch date has been announced.) Mitsubishi is calling the four-seat minicar the “ultimate eco-car,” the first step toward making EVs 20 percent of its business by 2020.

A free visectomy? OH, vasectomy. How would independence from oil be like a vasectomy? Is the Tesla roadster's performance testicular enough for you? So, in some long away distant future, the one where YOU are shelling out over $5 a gallon and it costs over $75 to fill a 15 gallon tank? No, wait, that already happened, and we are headed there again! My wife and I refuse to purchase another car until there is a REAL, SERIOUS electric car offered for a decent price. What is sad it the fact that the technology has been there a long time and only just now they are starting to come out with them.
