"A traveler has no protection besides his fire-arms; and the constant habit of carrying them is the main check to more frequent robberies" --Charles Darwin from The Voyage Of The Beagle I am truly sorry you feel that I am being lazy by not pedaling a bicycle. Two things 1.my prostate cause me so much pain I can not set on a bicycle seat. 2. The five cracked and broken vertebra in my back prevent me from having enough strength to pedal. Actually I do not wish to build a electric bicycle. I would like to fit motors to all four wheels and then be able to take it off road into rough areas so I may enjoy the outdoors places normally reserved for ATV that are much more powerful than a person can pedal. 73 dray
"A traveler has no protection besides his fire-arms; and the constant habit of carrying them is the main check to more frequent robberies" --Charles Darwin from The Voyage Of The Beagle Does not the sunrise or sunset reveal too thoughts of a man. Any man may be encouraged by the sight of something beautiful and glorious. Men have fought some of the greatest battles in the universe just because of the great beauty of a single woman. Shakespeare compared the beauty of a woman to that of a rose. Do you not think that the brilliance of M31 or the Ring Nebula could be rightly compared with the beauty of "Helen of Troy" (She who's face launched a thousand ships) or the "Madonna with Child" or even Leonardo Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa". At its worst Hubble gives us images that even though they maybe surpassed. Can not be improved upon ever. I for one would give up every dime I have to keep supplying these images to the world and all its children as they are the ones who benefit from these images. 73 dray
"A traveler has no protection besides his fire-arms; and the constant habit of carrying them is the main check to more frequent robberies" --Charles Darwin from The Voyage Of The Beagle Now that we have both Unarmed Remote Control Aerial Vehicles and the Armed Remote Control Vehicle does this mean that a person is no longer limited by age when applying for work in the Armed Forces? Remote control vehicles has been for many years now the providence of older persons. Any time you go out to the areas where these remote control vehicles are being used it seems that the majority of operators are older persons. It has been this way for 50 to a hundred years at least. I think it may continue so. With this being the situation as it stands right now. Isn't it just possible that older person even those in their waning years could be available to handle this type of remote vehicle as physical strength and manual dexterity are no longer a requirement in the game. I have found that older persons do not have the egocentric need to prove themselves that younger person do. They actually find it distasteful to kill someone and therefore do it with less enthusiasm for whole sale destruction. 73 dray
For the past five years, John Rennie has braved the towering waves of the North Atlantic Ocean to keep your e-mail coming to you. As chief submersible engineer aboard the Wave Sentinel, part of the fleet operated by U.K.-based undersea installation and maintenance firm Global Marine Systems, Rennie--a congenial, 6'4", 57-year-old Scotsman--patrols the seas, dispatching a remotely operated submarine deep below the surface to repair undersea cables. The cables, thick as fire hoses and packed with fiber optics, run everywhere along the seafloor, ferrying phone and Web traffic from continent to continent at the speed of light. The cables regularly fail. On any given day, somewhere in the world there is the nautical equivalent of a hit and run when a cable is torn by fishing nets or sliced by dragging anchors. If the mishap occurs in the Irish Sea, the North Sea or the North Atlantic, Rennie comes in to splice the break together.

Researchers in Australia have come up with an outwardly simple but incredibly ingenious way of curing blindness caused by corneal damage: Take everyday contact lenses, already used by millions (including me), and infuse them with a patient's own stem cells. After wearing them for about 2 weeks, test subjects reported a seemingly miraculous restoration of sight. Is it that easy?
This type of research into stem cell use is not a problem and not illegal. Never has been. You folks are using the wrong terminology. dray
In kitchens all around the world, cooks are experimenting with liquid nitrogen. It is a dramatic and very useful culinary tool that can cool or freeze things in an instant. It is made of pure nitrogen in a liquid state. Daniel Rutherford discovered the element nitrogen in 1772. It makes up 78.1% of the earth's atmosphere by volume. In its gaseous state, nitrogen is odorless, colorless, non-flammable, non-toxic, and largely inert. Nitrogen is found in organic materials, foods, explosives, fertilizers, and poisons.
If you had done this frozen a marshmallow and given it to a kid to eat just how long did it take you to get him to the hospital to get the pain out of his mouth from your not know what you were doing. Didn't you read just how cold it makes things and just what some of this stuff can do. You do not freeze something like a marshmallow as it is dry and when you freeze it it becomes very very cold about 200-F to be exact. It will if put in the mouth at that temp freeze itself to what ever it touches. Great story but just a story. Sorry but not something to tell people to do. dray
Living in the Midwest, where heating homes with propane is common, I periodically see reports in the local paper that yet another unoccupied house has exploded. They often note that the roof was found in the basement, while the walls were spread some distance into the neighboring fields.
Most kids in science class remember this type of thing best because it is exciting and fun. If the teachers in all of the kids classes helped the kids to make school work this much fun how much more could all the kids learn. You don't think that Math can be that much fun? Make the math problem something that has the kids competing against one another. Same thing with English try seeing how much funny it would be to learn how to write a really good short story. When teachers finally learn. HOW TO TECH. Then we will have a lot more really intelligent students graduating from all their classes. dray
