Is That Your Final Answer?... Really?

By Joel Barnard Posted on 3.16.2009 19 Comments

How long does it take the Earth to revolve around the sun? Did the earliest humans and dinosaurs live at the same time? What percentage of the Earth’s surface is covered with water? Think you know the answers? Well, if you’re an American adult you may be frighteningly alone.

The Future Isn’t What It Used to Be

By Posted on 3.6.2009 12 Comments

Predictions for the future generally come in two flavors: blighted hellscape or techno-utopia. Last week, Microsoft Business Division President Stephen Elop introduced Microsoft’s vision of 2019 with a slick new video, and it is a future that falls decidedly in the later, more optimistic category. The problem? The 2019 Microsoft details with this video is almost identical to the 2004 predicted in this video produced by Sun Microsystems in 1992.

Of course they know that there are gonna be competitors, but why would they show them in a video to promote their products ??? I mean the iphone is a consumer technology and is fair close to this sort of stuff i can't imagine what the top rate iphone type technology is like

    Microsoft: “Sayonara Vista…Hello 7!”

By Tom Conlon Posted on 2.9.2009 27 Comments

Is Microsoft finally admitting that Windows Vista is a lost cause? Well, that’s certainly not the official company line, but it does kind of seem that way to me. The embattled OS’s successor, Windows 7, wraps up a public beta in a few days and speculation is that Microsoft is planning to crown its heir to the Windows kingdom as early as the Fall. By then, Vista will have been on store shelves for less than three years. That’s not a very long time compared to XP, which was top dog for five years before being replaced by Vista—if it was ever really replaced at all.

Saruji Your a moron If you install kazaa on any OS it's gonna mess up, you can't say that about just windows, just because 90% of virus's are made for windows. Stop being such an elitist while all your ubuntu bullshit, If I wanted a bare bones OS then I'd go back to 98 or ME. Your pretty much saying that if someone linked you to a page that scripted your computer to turn on DMZ on your computer that that your not responsible for clicking the like ubuntu is. Jesus Vista is a good operating system, I've been using it since it came out and I've NEVER had any problems with it whether it's modelling in C4D or making textures in Photoshop Vista has never given me any problems. Stop thinking your awesome cos you know how to find a virus location and stick it in recycle bin

    A Purely Fantastical Holiday Guide

By Tom Conlon Posted on 12.17.2008 6 Comments

This week, as children across the land burden the laps of portly, temporary mall help to cast last minute wishes for footballs, tinker toys and Red Rider BB guns, I’ll be sitting at my desk, fingers-crossed with a few holiday fancies of my own. I’d like to think I’ve been a well behaved boy this year, so in addition to old standbys like world peace, good will toward men and a substantial lottery win, I’m asking for these five tech-related gifts—as infuriatingly unlikely as they may be.

If your looking for a GAMES CONSOLE then you should buy 360 there aren't too many PS3 only blockbuster games that are worth spending $399 for the console. If you want an entertainment system then go ahead. But no matter how much SONY pay Hollywood to make it the industry standard they don't have a say in whether BLU-RAY or HD-DVD become standard. so really it's abit of a gamble in my books. Also at this current point in time, I'm not really bothered about seeing the sweat drip down the body's of the Spartans in 300 I just wanna watch the goddam movie.

The Physics of Surfing (Part One: Dropping In)

By Adam Weiner Posted on 10.29.2008 3 Comments

There are few things more impressive than watching a big-wave surfer dropping into a monstrous "bomb" 60 or 70 feet high. Actually doing it must be quite an adrenaline rush. (I've been out in waves maybe a fifth that size and even then the energy of the wave can be, well... terrifying!) In the video we can see that the surfer gets towed into the wave with the aid of a jet ski. If you're familiar with surfing you might be aware that once waves get big enough (wave faces larger than 40 or 50 feet) it's impossible to paddle into them in the "traditional" way: you have to be towed in. Why is this? Not surprisingly, it all has to do with some basic principles of physics.

You should do one for skateboarding aswell since that is heavily physics based.
