    Five Human Achievements That Could Top Walking on the Moon

    Possibly the single most influential event in the public's interest in science and technology (not to mention one of humankind’s greatest adventures), the Apollo 11 mission touched the collective dreams of millions, while pushing science and technology swiftly forward at an unprecedented pace. But in the decades since man first walked on the moon, science has advanced so rapidly that technology which even a few years ago might have been considered magic has become commonplace. Even so, it would be naïve to assume that Apollo 11 ever represented science and technology’s pinnacle, and that nothing forthcoming will similarly explode the world’s collective dreams and perceptions of what it means to be human. So what’s next? What will be the next worldwide event or discovery that fundamentally changes the way we look at ourselves and the universe we live in?

    Nothing, especially energy will ever be free. As long as the world is based on a monetary system the current oil/energy corporations will make sure that you pay for every single electron you use. So what if the power comes from oil, fusion, wind, the sun or gerbils on treadmills. .You're going to pay for it.

    Cannabis connoisseurs, former hippies, and college kids everywhere have long appreciated marijuana for its seemingly magical effects on mind and body. The fact that it is illegal (at least in the United States), has never stopped people from partaking in a little herbal refreshment. But it isn’t just Phish fans who have argued for the legalization of the popular recreational drug. Legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes, specifically to alleviate the pain of those afflicted with glaucoma, is a contemporary and fairly widespread cause.

    As long as the only people that vote are 90+ year old super conservative bible belt dwelling zealots it will be illegal forever. Hopefully as younger generations start running things it will change. But right now witch burners are still running the show..so forget it.
