Remembering a Former Caltech Rocket Scientist and the Founder of China's Space Program

By Jeremy Hsu Posted on 11.4.2009 6 Comments

One can only imagine how history might have played out if the United States had not deported a Chinese-born Caltech rocket scientist on suspicion of being a Communist in 1955. Qian Xuesen first fought his deportation, but later accepted his fate and went on to become the founder of China's missile and space programs. His death this past Sunday comes as China broadens its space exploration efforts to become a potential challenger to a troubled U.S. space program, or perhaps a partner.

This is the united states WAY of acquiring and disposing off people after the success of any achievements. If you're not an american by origin(genetically), I advise you dont accept their offer. There's alot of things you can do for the whole world, and not for the americans(by origin) ONLY.

Robotic Adventures at the FIRST Competition

By Posted on 3.25.2009 8 Comments

    Day One

It's Friday morning, March 6, not even eight a.m. High school students in color-coordinated outfits stand at ease under the high ceiling of the Javits Center, waiting for the New York City's FIRST Robotics Competition to begin. Over the next three days, sixty six teams will vie for the regional crown and spots in the national tournament, held in the Georgia Dome come April. Some of the schools have mascots. One team's red dragon boogies back and forth in front of another team's Darth Vader. Darth brandishes his light saber.

    Power Struggle

By Seth Fletcher Posted on 10.29.2008 73 Comments

The battery that will power the Chevrolet Volt weighs approximately 400 pounds and, stood on end, reaches a height of six feet. The $10,000-plus, T-shaped monolith contains 300 individual three-volt lithium-ion cells, bundled together in groups of three, then wired in series and kept from overheating by an elaborate liquid cooling mechanism.

    Handheld Spy Chopper

By Annemarie Conte and Esther Haynes Posted on 9.5.2008 5 Comments

American soldiers have a bevy of hand-launched unmanned aerial vehicles to choose from these days, but nothing quite as nimble, lightweight and cheap as the Stevens Institute of Technology’s unmanned helicopter. The chopper would allow soldiers to check tall buildings for enemies by flying the camera-equipped, remote-controlled helicopter up staircases and into hidden corners before they go in. The four-pound prototype is made of a doughnut-shaped fiberglass shell 18 inches in diameter; inside, two counter-rotating 14-inch rotors create lift.

It was a replicate from the hi-tech tactical gadget in the action movie XXX - State of the Union starring Ice Cube, you can see that gadget on the first 5 minutes of the movie. But this was the real one, I dont know if the one on the movie exists or not. But thats cool because its proven!!!
