Segway users, look behind your shoulder. Another “personal transport assistant” is waiting in the wings.

Looks like another corporate giant farting around with anything BUT a useful EV1 type electric car. How much is Exxon/Chevron paying these companies to NOT produce a small efficient electric car that would work well for most of us? This thing is basically a joke and hoax to keep us from having a real vehicle.

A New Dawn for Solar Energy

By Posted on 8.1.2008 28 Comments

It doesn’t take a stellar imagination to figure out the main downside of solar power. For years, the question of how to store the energy generated when the sun is shining for use at night has prevented solar power from becoming a viable alternative energy source. However, a new breakthrough may have overcome that storage problem, opening the door for solar energy on a grand scale.

Okay I will get slammed for this comment. I am not a science guy or even good with math. Jack Kennedy said, "Let's put a man on the moon and bring him back safely in ten years." He did not say "let's do that and let corporations make billions off the idea, too." I find it very difficult to believe that this nation cannot solve the problem of an electric car that most people could use every day, improve our electric grid with solar, wind, tidal, and very clean gas/coal at a minimal use, and get at least 50% of us off the internal combustion engine. There must be a reason why we have not solved this major problem..ah..it must have something to do with electing people who are in the pockets of the oil industry. There May Be Blood

By Posted on 8.7.2008 6 Comments

As the earth warms and our hunger for oil and other natural resources grows, the Arctic—once a peaceful repose for Santa—is already a crisscross of territorial claims that could get even more complicated in coming years according to a new map drawn up by researchers at Durham University, who say it is the only geographically accurate map of its kind.

Regardless of how many trillions of barrels of oil there are out there, it will eventually run out. And regardless of the precise causes of global warming, this nation must begin to wean itself off of cars powered only by internal combustion engines. We must begin to look beyond the next fiscal quarter of profits and to the long range future. I doubt that we will ever learn. Jimmy Carter tried in the late seventies and in walks a B movie bad cowboy actor and made us all feel warm and fuzzy and set up an era of ignoring our energy situation. Americans are fat, stupid, and lazy and do not want to hear about peak oil or global warming because, god forbid, they might have to sacrifice some of their couch potato comforts. I now ride an electric assist hybrid bicycle to work every day. I got it a Walmart for $350. It gets a carbon equivalent of 1800 miles per gallon. My commute is very short but there are many others in this area of Dallas who could also do this. Regardless of where we are with oil or where we are going with oil, it feels very good to say "gotohell, Exxon" every morning when I go to work. Maybe I am only one small insignificant person but I am getting 1800 per gallon instead of 25.

    Vacuuming Up the Competition

By Posted on 6.24.2008 6 Comments

British industrial designer James Dyson made a fortune turning a pedestrian household appliance into a fashion item for suburban strivers. Box-store shoppers recognize his bagless vacuum cleaner by that future-sexy, ultra-maneuverable yellow orb that stands in for wheels. Now, according to the UK's Daily Mail Dyson is turning his attention from closet to garage: his firm is reportedly developing an electric car.

Well I for one am thrilled that this charming Brit, James Dyson, is going for E-cars. I saved up this year and bought my first Dyson vacuum and with a dog and two cats, this damned thing is amazing. Dyson obviously thinks outside anyone's box. PLEASE James get this thing on the road ASAP.
