    So far the Science Debate 2008 questions have focused on technical issues which most Americans agree are important, even if they disagree over how the problems should be tackled. However, by asking about the federal funding and regulation of stem cells, question eight steps right into the fray of a decade long culture war. That cultural conflict colors both candidates’ Science Debate answers, but what about their legislative history?

    if you can get stem cell else where no-one should have a problem with it now the only reason people would be getting worked up about this is that stem-cells have been demonized

    Does Science Obviate Religion?

    Last Monday at New York's Pierre Hotel, outspoken atheist Christopher Hitchens and physicist/theologian Monsignor Lorenzo Albacete met to tackle the question of whether or not science makes belief in God obsolete. According to the forum's hosts, Newsweek editor Jon Meacham and Washington Post columnist Sally Quinn, religion riles its vilifiers when it makes truth claims without evidence -- at least evidence that would hold up in a court of science. The conflict seems to stem from a difference in understanding as to what evidence and truth truly are.

    Why is this even an issue for anyone, going that far back everything is pure speculation. everything about where we came from is just another theory among a pile of theories. Some people choose the big bang for their explanation for others it's religion. But no matter what you choose NOTHING CAN YET BE PROVEN IF EVER.

    I like to think I'm protective of my sensitive personal info. I rip bills and credit card offers into confetti before throwing them out, I never give out my Social Security number, and I can spot a phishing scheme with the best of them. But I've recently come to realize that the safeguarding of my most intimate personal details is completely out of my hands.

    look for site that have been verified with encryption techniques, like ssl 2.0,ssl 3.0, comodo,etc... before you type in anything even remotely personal

    That’s not a carnivorous blob escaped from a B-movie—it’s a musical instrument called the Slime-O-Tron II. When Brooklyn engineer Eric Singer isn’t building elegant, music-playing robots, he designs unconventional audio controllers that send digital signals, known as MIDI data, to music software, turning them into sounds. For his latest such invention (he built the original Slime-O-Tron last year), Singer cooked up some slime from a recipe he found online and infused it with graphite to make it conductive.

    Google Walking Directions: a Privacy Concern?

    Last week, Google released a beta application that provides walking directions in major cities such as New York, San Francisco, and Minneapolis. It's another sign that the search giant is getting even more specific about "organizing the world's information," right down to the sidewalk in front of your house. If you want to walk from your apartment in the suburbs to a restaurant downtown, Google will show you the best route with turn-by-turn directions you can print out or follow on your smartphone.

    if people took 5 minutes and read parts of googles info they might just figure out that these aren't real time pictures and are rather old
