One in Eight U.S. Biology Teachers Teaches Creationism

The results of the first national survey of teachers about evolution in their classrooms are in. Darwin would quiver in his boots to learn that in this day and age, one in eight American biology teachers teach creationism and intelligent design as a sound alternative to his theory. In fact, 13 percent of the country’s teachers think they can run an excellent biology class without even mentioning Darwin or evolution.

i have all the evidence that anyone should need to disprove creastionism no matter what pseudo-science garbage it is dressed up in. i have sitting right next to me right now a rock. a simple Acasta (part of the gneiss family of rock formation) rock that my dad was given as a gift by the NWT while he was teaching in Yellowknife. and the simple fact is that the rock was dated to be 4.03 billion years old by radiological decay of certain radioactive isotopes of zircon crystals (Bowring, S.A., and Williams, I.S., 1999. Priscoan (4.00-4.03 Ga) orthogneisses from northwestern Canada. Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, v. 134, 3-16.) . Now then how can the earth only be about 6000 years old? another problem that i have with creationist theory is that while creationists attempt to claim that the "creator" may not necessarily be "god" but may in fact be some form of higher life form that we are unable to ascertain, well taht's all well and good but where did that "higher form of life come from. wouldn't the so called creator have had to oh shall we say evolve from some lower form of life before coming to wield his supposedly allmighty power? Another problem with creationist theory is the ID version of the Grand Canyon. according to the creationist belief. the Grand Canyon was cut by the huge out rush of water held in large lakes to the northern area of where the Grand Canyon is today by some sort of natural damn, but then a large amount of rain fell and overloaded those natural dams causing them to break and scour the Grand Canyon in just a few days. if this sounds familiar then yeah this is saying that the Grand Canyon was cut by the Flood that got Noah to rescue two of every animal onto his little boat. the only problem with this is that the geology of the Grand Canyon is based on Granite and Shale. these are families of rocks that are VERY difficult to cut with water unlike most canyon geologies based upon sandstone. Also on the topic of the mass extinctions that have happened in the past of the history of the planet the one that wiped out the dinosaurs was actually the smallest one of the FIVE known mass extinctions, the Ordovician extinction even about 450 million years ago, the Late-Devonian extinction about 370 million years ago, then there was the P-T extinction event in which over 50% of all species on the planet went extinct. this was the largest extinction even in the history of the planet in terms of number of species and this happened around 250 million years ago. then there were the Triassic-Jurrasic extinction event and then there was the K-T extinction event best known as the one that wiped out the dinosaurs which was the largest extinction event By Mass of species wiped out. Meaning that in that case the larger species went extinct and the smaller species evolved to compensate for the ice age that happened due to the meteor strike that was the major proponent of the K-T extinction.. So those are my reasons for disagreeing with the creationist viewpoint. simple facts.
