Can a Swimsuit Be Too Good?

By Posted on 3.27.2008 21 Comments

digg_url = 'http://digg.com/design/Can_a_Swimsuit_Be_Too_Good'; Even we didnt guess it would be this good. When I wrote last month about Speedos latest swimsuit—an extremely high-tech full-body wonder—three world records had already been broken by LZR-clad swimmers. Coincidence? Maybe. But, after eight more records fell in the past month, the suit is causing some serious waves.

I find it very interesting that a number of records have been broken since the introduction of the new Speedo but I am disappointed that there is no statistics or comparisons with other products to back up claims of a "superior" or "perfect" swimsuit. Please provide this information from actual tests to either confirm or debunk this claim. Brian Loke

Livescribe Hands-On: Translating Written Text on the Fly

By Posted on 2.20.2008 3 Comments

We first saw the Livescribe Pulse "smartpen" in action at the DEMO conference last month, but today CEO Jim Marggraff stopped by to give us a closer look. When you use the Pulse to write on paper printed with a special microdot pattern, it recognizes its exact relative location on the page and captures a digital file of your pen strokes (complete with full character and word recognition) along with audio. The pen can also then interact with written words on the page in many interesting ways, including live audio translations into multiple languages of any word you tap.

This pen is too cool. I can see this revolutionizing note taking especially for poor note takers like myself. I bet this will be a big hit for other college students like myself as well as an asset in the business world.
