Promotional considerations for this project were provided by Vitamix Corporation's Professional Series, and by Vision Research, makers of the Phantom v641 camera that captured this footage at 1500 frames per second.
Five amazing, clean technologies that will set us free, in this month's energy-focused issue. Also: how to build a better bomb detector, the robotic toys that are raising your children, a human catapult, the world's smallest arcade, and much more.

In its previous post PopSci said it would see us in the future. What they really meant was they would use a time machine to post FROM the future. Awesome!
A splendid blended vortex of advance frame rate cinema photography; COOL!

Geewillikers, I have always found it fun to watch things in slow motion from childhood and yes now.
Here is a helpful link for those of you interesting in learning more about the Phantom v641 camera.

Well played @space. Well played, indeed. :-D
Does anyone have information about the music used in the video?
Song, or Artist?
I would greatly appreciate any info, thanks.
It's some kind of remix to the Twin Peaks soundtrack.
I've been a Vitamix junkie for 30 years.Paid $600 for the damn thing, but it DOES make amazing smoothies!
As POPSCI slowed down a little for the holidays and post just a few articles, we READERS are attempting to pull out as much information of this article as much as possible. We are so bored, I think, lol.
By the way, if I knew the song or artist I will post it, but I do not know.
I do wish everyone a continue nice holiday and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I wonder if this could be done with miniature plastic pellets. That way, you could see the flow of the water more easily without the water becoming blurry.
I'm sure the speeds that these cameras capture movement offer many great insights for science in any number of fields. All I can think of now is building some kind of blender/lava lamp. Little multicolored plastic pellets would add a great effect, to the lamp...
Jesus, this site has to be the worst for spammers. They can get away with murder on Popsci.
Whats worse are the multiple account story telling Bubbas.
These bloggers are a splendid blend of different perspectives and opinions. I have enjoyed reading these commentaries very much!

It surely is some remix of Twin Peaks' soundtrack but does anyone know who did that version??
What's up with the spammers? How do they post messages, yet on another article I couldn't post because I somehow triggered the spam filter. No website links or anything. As for the music, it sounds like porn music. With a 2 horsepower motor this thing puts my cheap Cuisinar to shame. I wonder how it stacks up to a gas powered blender (they are real, I've seen them in catalogs).
Ah Bubba Gump, now there was a poster child for ADHD.
Science always asks "can we," but doesn't seem to ask "should we."
isitcoldinhere: Yes,I wonder about it too.I have emailed the webmaster when I see spam, but they have another thing coming if they think I will do it every time I see spam posts.
I also agree they give legit posters grief.I was accused of spamming myself awhile ago.

Absolute Awesome ;)
Meh...no vortex visible from my perspective, just a bunch of turbulent churning.
