Summertime, a cocktail party, stiff drinks -- what's missing? If you're a futuristic type, then the clear answer is: the newest butlerbot.
The Table Robot from Laskmi-Do Corporation wheels itself around on two wimpy but miraculously balanced wheels. The butlerbot made its debut recently at FOOMA Japan, Toyko's biggest food and tech convention. Able to carry up to almost five pounds of whatever's your poison, it obeys a simple remote control for now, but plans are in the works for the butlerbot to home in intelligently on the audible cries of thirsty humans instead.

This is a great example of how spin-offs ideas can result from products where people think, its great technology with no purpose. Take the segway, not really practical in the form which it was originally intended but great technology. envelope. This Table Robot shows how a dreamer in japan has pushed the envelope perhaps aided but showing the technology is possible.
I would like to see this thing demoed with an extra large pitcher of beer. Also how does it hold up during a bar fight? We need some real life field testing at some of Houston's finest country bars.

Hmmm they didn't show how it stood up to bumps and pushes. My guess is that it's incapable, and could easily fall over if pushed.
And we all just want to push it, seeing something like that in real life, the temptation is too great. :D
I would guess this table is pretty stable if it is based on the segway technology. The segway can balance a person and drinks weight much less.
I have an improvement idea for this... How about making the "tray" on top swivel forward and backwards automatically? This way whenever the body of the unit needs to make a drastic lean for countering the gravity (say a bump by a human,) the tray on top will always remain horizontal to the ground (or for a hard push could "over react" by leaning in the opposite direction of the units lean, thereby keeping liquids in their cups-if only for a split second of correction time needed.) As for stability and safety in bars, don't people have to watch out for tray holders already? How is this different? I actually trust this over a human any day. Keep it up peeps!
I don't understand how the table maintains it's equilibrium only with 2 points of support. Really amazing

Our technology is continuously innovating and it is unstoppable. Even our defense system is also progressing to its high-technology projects. Defense spending is known to need major cuts, especially now, when one of a new military pet project is called brain optimization. Brain optimization would literally mean affecting brain activity in order to enhance memory capabilities to recall key information at appropriate times – in other words, mind control. This is a project of DARPA, the Pentagon's far out research arm, who aim to equip troops with devices that will synch up brain waves. Defense spending, including projects like brain optimization, is responsible for the bulk of the national debt of the US, perhaps our Congress should start cutting these sorts of programs when Americans need no fax payday loans for basic medical care, housing, or in some cases, even food.

FreddyH: Sounds like you have some problems with our government spending (as do a lot of us.) You know if it gets real bad there are several other countries accepting American immigrants. Then you wouldn't have to worry so much! Ps this article has nothing to do with American Military spending. Do you have anything to say about this amazing technology described above? (that mind you is also taking place outside the US of A)
