A British government agency explores the potential impact of key technological trends in the next twenty years

Tomorrow's Wireless World Ofcom

The British telecom regulator, Ofcom, released its most recent technology research report last week—a research project that tries to project where various trends will take us in the next ten or twenty years.

The report, Tomorrow's Wireless World, looks at innovative tech that could change health-care and transportation in particular. The agency notes that the impact of these gadgets isn't always clear. Consider the idea of wireless sensors implanted in at-risk patients that can alert doctors when something goes wrong. The health benefits are evident, but Ofcom points out that a technology like this could also create some serious privacy issues.

There's plenty more in the report, and while the predictions might not be huge surprises to Popular Science readers, it's still worth a look.
