Hurricane Sandy, nicknamed "Bride of Frankenstorm" because it's almost Halloween and because meteorologists are just the worst pun-makers ever, was photographed by NASA's TRIMM satellite while centered over the Bahamas this morning. Stocked up on beer and gas today. I'm ready as I'm gonna get.
Last year went with a friend of mine up to Ludlow VT to work on his ski house and ride out Irene since we're close to the shore.
Central VT got nailed bad with massive flooding. Washed out more towns and roads than I care to recall. Stuck there 2 days on Okemo, and it took 9 hours to find a way home after that.
Got home to find I never even lost power.
Made up for that last October when we got that foot of heavy snow. No power for a week. Thankfully I have camping gear so I had heat and a way to cook.
This planet needs Weather Control Systems like in Star Trek. A series of devices that dissipate tornadoes and hurricanes. It's a real shame that this kind of technology probably won't be invented for another century or two.
