A manmade batcave, icy transjovian volcanoes, arachnids eating Seattle, and the rest of the pictures that amazed us this week

White Rhino This northern white rhino is absurdly endangered. Like, there are almost certainly none left in the wild, and only seven in captivity. Of those, only four are capable of reproducing. And they're not. To encourage that, zoos are putting them back in the wild, but since poaching is the reason there are only seven goddamn northern white rhinos left in the world, they've each been given a 24-hour armed guard. via @cespur

I pray and hope these rhinos get together and make babies. Its a sad reflection on humanity so many animals are going extinct in this world. If humans would live off the land, like we originally did, they never destroy their back yard, the farm, their food source. But with manufacturing and yes to days farms are as much of factory as others, the majority of the population is not dependent upon making their own food, so we do not have a direct feeling of the harm we are doing and how we are killing ourselves on planet Earth. Its IS just a matter of time, when we humans wipe out the most of ourselves, by destroying our own habitat.

Or in short, if it’s out of people sight, it is then out of their mind and heart, until it affects them.
