FYI Earth Ron Miller/Stocktrek Images/Corbis

Hot enough to boil oceans and vaporize rock. The highest terrestrial temperatures occurred more than four billion years ago, when a Mars-size proto-planet smashed into the Earth. (The debris from this collision formed our moon.) Within a millennium, the surface air temperature had dropped from a high of about 3,700°F down to 3,000°. Then the planet went into a period of slower cooling that lasted a few tens of millions of years. As the atmosphere thickened with heat-trapping water clouds and carbon dioxide and a shell of solid rock formed around the Earth’s core, conditions stabilized at 440°.

The warmest weather we’ve had in recent times—since mammals diverged from the tree of life—came about 55 million years ago, during a period known as the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum. In just a few thousand years, global surface temperatures increased by 5° to 10°, with parts of North America experiencing a tropical climate and spring-like average temperatures in the Arctic.

Thank goodness for that big ole moon--life would be vastly different without it.

Thank goodness for collision with Theia (the proto-planet that smashed into us) in general... without the moon to control our planet's obliquity and without our nice current spin rate (theoretically imparted by the Theia collision), we'd be just another slow-spinning interior planet incapable of supporting life as we know it. Like Venus, which has a 5800 hour rotation.

...........................................ATHEISM...........................................

The belief that there was nothing and that nothing happened to nothing which made nothing explode thus creating everything from nothing for no reason but then a bunch of everything rearranged itself for no reason into self-replication bits that transformed into dinosaurs.

a person that makes a statements that has no relation or very little relation to the original topic for no good reason other than maybe to gain some satisfaction in the attention they garner.

Oh, no worries. Just imagine 6 days ago there was nothing and on the 7 day we are all sitting around the campfire, talking about the paradise we will be kicked out of, once we enjoy the fruits of knowledge of knowing there is something and we are back to square one foreced into nothing.

Personally, I believe everthing was always there, it was just on the 7th day we became consious of our suroundings. Prior to 7th day, we were like all the other dumb aminals, just living off the land, eating, mating and just living and dieing.

Nothing is really new. It is only our awareness, that has changed.

Troll'n troll'n, just a little additional additotal verbose augmenting troll'n. Every body, SING ALONG! LOL

In the above illustration, I get the impression the Earth came after the moon and is hot with volcanic activity.

But infact the moon is believe to come after the Earth with a collision of a sister size type of Earth\type planet that was in close orbit with the Earth and clip the Earth, creating the moon and our asteroid belt. Or in other words, I am confused by the above illustration?

.......................CHRISTIANITY..........................

Christianity is the belief that a cosmic jewish zombie who is his own father can make you live forever and save you from eternal fiery damnation if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a woman who was made from her husband's rib was convinced by a talking snake to eat a fruit from a magical tree.

All praise to Zeus, Mithra, and Osiris!

It's amazing how complex the system of universes is. And how slow the mindless religious zealots can grasp things.

HBillyRufus,
The oldest culture we know of were the Sumerians and their highest and most powerful god was Anu. Of course a name is human invention, which limits and puts in a box of the thing you name. Our one god has no limits and is beyond true human understanding. When the one God introduce himself to Moses and Moses asked the one God, what shall I call you. God replied, I am without name, I simply exist and refered to himself as "I-am", a statment of existance.

The seonded God below Anu was Enki and created many variations of humans on Earth. Enki war with Anu and lost power and was banished to Earth. Most of Enki creations were destroyed. Enki deals with the phyiscal world and uses science and technology very much. He also uses the sign of the beast 666. The 666 is simply an icon. As in all icons, phyisical things of Earth, and science, we humans will always have limitations.

Anu deals with the spirit, our essence and holy ghost. Anu can reach all levels of the Cosmos, dimensions and time.

If you are a believer only of science, you live in the world of Enki. Science is a good thing. It describes and paints with our human interpretation, all that Anu has made. Our science will always be limited and fall short of the true nature of everything. We humans can not create. Only Anu can create and we humans can only interpret, copy and see from a far, what Anu has made via our science. To depend upon science, if to always live in the phyical world and all things in the phyical world decay and fall to their lowest levels in the chaos of the Cosmos.

To live forever, you must respect, adore and put your faith in Anu or the "I-Am". It takes faith and most people are not capable of such faith and it is a sad fact, not all people go to this higher level of being, with their souls save, protected.

You were given free will and with the true nature of this gift, you will recieve what you believe in. Take care and God bless.

There are 3 Heavens. The first heaven is our physical world we live everyday. The god Enki created humans and all that we experience in this heaven is a blessing.

Then there is the second heaven, they sky above and beyond.

Finally there is the 3rd heaven, beyond all we know and see, another deminesnion and time of which our dear Lord lives and we hope to go to with our souls.

Our dear Lord loves all on Earth, the first heaven and we are all made with a purpose. We all live our life as individuals and all possess free will and in our deaths will go a direction determin by our free will and our Dear Lord. We humanity are foolish to get bogged down in believing our language, culture and anything phyical on this world is better than another thing. We need to spend our lives trying to understand our dear Lord, our place and be supportive of others in lifes journey. I can not save another person and another person can not save me. I am resonsible for my choices and actions. But we can grow and we can help others grow. We do this by caring and loving and forgiving ourselves and each other.

Life is beautiful and we are so small in the great cosmos of things. Thank you my dear Lord for this day!

robot,
I dont believe in this 3rd heaven or the ritualized methods which grant you access. However, I do believe strongly in everything else you just said. It's nice to see an example of someone using religion to spread love equally to all. Thanks.

dwatts1,
My vented opinion is temporary, fluid and always evolving. I am traveling life's journey same as you and anyone else. I wish you well and hope you and yours makes it to paradise too. And with our human observation of life and science; its just marvelous what our dear Lord has made!!!!

WoWzers!!!

wow where did all the religious talk come from? today was the hottest day that i have experienced on this Earth. 2013 is near, a great change is coming. many minds will open.

"You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes." -Morpheus

JediMindset,
The religious talk came from how the cosmos inspires the awe and wow factor inside my soul.

Yes for you a great change is coming in 2013, but sir, you really do not have to wait, you can change you underwear today! LOL!

Ah
And the water baring rocks showing Earth had an Ocean 4.7 Billion years ago of it's current depth means...?
Of course when I was 7 the Earth was at least 100million years old and the Universe at least 5 million
And when I reach my teens the Eath was at least a Billion years old and the Universt at least 4 Billion
And now Earth Ocean been around 4.7 billion years old which pushes the "molten state" back further (7 billion?) and the Universe is at least 46 billion though we can only see 17 billion light years out very blurry
Of course this kinda messes with the knee-jerk Big Bangers that thinks our Universe was "created" 14 billion years ago
(it wasn't, it is theorized the universe occupied a "single point" in existance and is now "expanding" like a bubble in the fabric of existance...which has nothing to do with distance ,matter, energy, time or space let alone the age of things in our universe which in itself maybe "eternal")

Earth could of captured the moon.
Without an impact.
And have a grand extinction in the
process.
Gravitational stresses alone would
tidal wave land masses.
Produce enormous volcanic activities.
And exchange water and gases between the
two.
The largest volcano in our solar
system on Mars. Was produced by an outside influence.
And that very same rouge planet.
Could of been the moon.
Not buying the collision thesis yet.
