We spend a third of our days asleep, and a good portion of the rest of them talking about it. We had a good night's sleep, a bad night's sleep, we stayed up too late, got up too early, now we're exhausted, last night we wrote a perfectly coherent essay in our sleep... well, maybe not. But Dr. John D. Quackenbos did, or so says a Popular Science article from 1919.

And in true archive gallery form, there's more weirdness where that came from. Putting people into a "frozen sleep" to cure cancer, a bizarre fix for insomnia, a soundproof sleep booth and more.
We've also sprinkled in some interesting facts about the effects of sleep deprivation, and what happens when you dream. Enter the gallery above to learn more. Hopefully we don't put you to sleep.
For myself, a very simple way to get to Sleep, is to Sleep with a PILLOW, NOT on it but WITH IT. For me a pillow about 20″ X 26″ or 20″ X 30″. for a man, which is about medium firm, for you are cuddling it. What is important is the PILLOW CASE, which should be like silk or satin, that feels like very smooth skin. this is very important,I use one pillow case in another (2) The Pillow with the pillow cases is replacing the chest of the Mother. If you put in your browser, “Baby sleeping on chest of Mother” then click, Image, you might now see what I am getting at. Most people can’t remember before 2-3 years old, for they have no language to remember the events by.
Research suggests that Babies hearts are under more stress if they are left to sleep on their own.
It claims that sleeping on their Mother’s Chest provides young babies with a better rest than being put
in a crib for the night.
This information come from Dr. Nils Bergman, Pediatrician at the University of Cape Town in South Africa,
found that sleeping alone, makes it harder for the Mother to bond with the child.
Brain development also can be damaged by nightly separation, which can lead to behavioral problems in
later life, the research claims.
Dr. Bergman, who founded the movement,”Kangaroo Mother Care” emphasizing the benefits of
Skin-to-Skin between Mother and her Baby, studying the sleeping patterns of babies for the research.
He found that the babies hearts were up to under three times more stress when they slept in a crib, rather
than on their Mother’s chest.
The study also revealed disruption to the brain sleep cycle, which is vital in the organ’s development, in babies sleeping in Cribs.
Dr. Bergman warned that a lack of sleep at this stage could cause behavioral problems for the child in later life.
I discovered this myself by accident. I have satin sheets on my bed, and of course also pillow cases. I had been getting only 2 or 3 hours of sleep a night, and hard to fall asleep, till one night, I just got frustrated and just hugged the pillow, and slept 8 hours. I couldn’t believe it, That was about 3 months ago that started, and now I can’t wait to go to bed, and I sleep like a baby, I wonder why? I call my Pillow, MY PILLOW PAL.
I just don’t need Pills, When I have my Pillow Pal. I sometimes use a sleep mask if I want to take a nap doing the day. I am 77 and a retired Safety Director. I hope this might get you some “SHUT-EYE” !
