Therma-Tru Doors Tru-Defense

Shutting out the weather’s worst tantrums

When it comes to driving rains, hurricane-force winds and flying debris, the door is often the Achilles heel of the home. Leaky seals can fill your house with water—not to mention heat and cold—and a weak structure can crack or collapse under duress. Tru-Defense tackles the problem with L-shaped seals that prevent water from percolating into your house, and a door made of compression-molded fiberglass, polyurethane foam and 24-gauge steel. In tests, the door withstood 236mph winds and eight inches of rain per hour without letting in a wisp of wind or a single drop of water. It even repelled a two-by-four fired from a cannon, earning it the highest structural-performance rating in the industry. $650–$1,500; thermatru.com
