Festool DF 500 Domino Joiner

The easiest way to join wood

As any woodworker will tell you, crafting a perfect, seamless joint can be a diabolical exercise in frustration, typically requiring a drill, a chisel and superhuman patience. The handheld Domino makes the art of joinery quick and painless. An oscillating cutting head plunges into wood to carve out mortises, or cavities, which receive precut wood tenons that fit into the mortises to complete the joint. The machine has an adjustable fence, alignment pins and prescribed measurement marks, so it cuts accurately every time, a feature you’ll usually find only on big, expensive industrial machines. It also produces joints that are tighter and sturdier than those from a portable biscuit joiner. $700; festoolusa.com
