Acoustic Research WHT-6024 Speakers

NO WIRES AND NO STATIC

This 5.1-channel speaker set does what had long been impossible: It sends audio wirelessly to the rear speakers—and they sound good. Other wireless systems get staticky or drop notes because of interference from microwave ovens, Wi-Fi networks and cordless phones. To fix that, the Acoustic Research transmitter runs at 11 megabits per second, more than double the capacity of most others. That allows the wireless signal to carry uncompressed digital audio, plus a quality-monitoring signal that watches for interference. If it finds trouble, the system shifts the audio transmission to another frequency. $900; audiovox.com
