Science is reinventing play, from extreme sports to gamification to ridiculous roller coasters to the playgrounds of tomorrow, and this issue is chock full of fun. Also, on a less fun note: Did global warming destroy my hometown?
Yep... here is the link... and they have 1000 people are laid off today. The other 4000 are in the future.

Yes, halt and payout. The payout line reads "This proposition will pay out at POP$100 if Microsoft announces layoffs (of at least 100 employees) before January 28th, 2009." Thus it's long.

Sad. You really dropped the ball on this one. This is where
PPX is no longer a prediction game, but a sad and sorry herd
of sheeple who already know the outcome. Close it please
Taylor like I asked at 10:38 am EST 01/22/09 today. This is
just profit taking.

It's to bad the PPX community cannot HALT any props, dose anyone agree?
:-/ the PPX needs more staff/volunteers on top of these events to close them at an appropriate time...

there should really be some small group of volunteers who can help to manage this site so it's easier for everyone. there was once talk a few months back about letting some chosen whoever's to do part time moderation or even just in-forum moderation.

In forum moderation is scheduled to happen soon.
"In forum moderation is scheduled to happen soon."
It's better if it is limeted just to forum moderation.
I think it's great that after a very short lived acknowledgement of the progress that has been made on ppx, we're back to creating forums that do nothing but bitch about the imperfections of the game. That's truly awesome; and productive. A stock wasn't halted on time??? Oh my god, this "is no longer a prediction game but a sad and sorry herd of sheeple...". Whatever buddy, I'll tell you what you can do with your "sheeple". But then, I guess you should expect perfection, based on what it's costing you to play. Oh wait...
Yes, the idea of forum moderation has been discussed before, and this is what that discussion amounted to:
Because of the way the site is currently set up with Drupal, moderators would have all kinds of access they shouldn't have. Eventually that should change.
There are limited resources available for the PPX. I think you'd be complaining more if you had to pay to play. And even if you wouldn't mind playing, keep quiet, 'cause some of us can't afford to.
Paying, not playing (in the last sentence). As far as editing goes, this isn't the only site that doesn't currently have comment editing, so I don't mind too much.
