Halted? Isn't that what we're betting on?

I am extremely surprised that these stocks are still so high. I mean as you said, NASA has said that they wont launch until at least Feb. '09.

And yes I'm short on it, because that's what I believe, which is what this game is all about.

If you want my advice sell, and sell fast. It's basically a fact that the criteria wont be met.

Ok, I'm new and didn't understand what halted meant.

However, if by delisted you mean that it should just stop trading at it's current price without having a value of zero, then I believe that is contrary to the whole point of this game

Yes, you are right traderboi. Halted means that trading has been stopped, this typically occurs just before closing a stock or for uncertain circumstances. Delisted is when a stock has been paid out and is no longer active. It will still be in the system for a while but will show delisted. When pay-out occurs, your transaction history will show delisted for that stock.

But why is the price of this stock at 60 even though it's a sure thing to pay out short? This stock should be hovering around zero.

Or maybe I just don't understand how the prices are set.

Neither should pay out early. An examination of the payout criteria makes this clear:

ATLANTIS:
This proposition will pay off at POP$100 per share if the Atlantis mission is derailed because of space trash by the end of October 2008.

STSUCCESS:
This proposition will pay off at POP$100 per share if NASA launches mission STS-125 by November 1, 2008.

So, in examining these we learn that the only way that ATLANTIS can pay out early is if the Atlantis mission is derailed because of space trash by the end of October 2008. Has this happened? No. Therefore it can't pay out until the end of October 2008. Is it extremely unlikely to happen because NASA has delayed the mission? Absolutely. Is it POSSIBLE that NASA could end up launching the mission early after all? Yes, it's POSSIBLE (not likely), and therefore we must wait until the end of the prop period to see what happens. IF it were to close early and IF it then came to fruition, THAT would be an UGLY mess to clean up.

Oh, and STSUCCESS has the same problem. Must wait till the end of it's prop period unless the criteria is met before hand.

Theres most likely a lot of people who jump on this site, place a lot of bids, and just leave and never come back. Thats probobly why STSUCCESS went from 70 to 60, when the people who learned of the news took their money out. the other 60 probobly consists of people who just left their money there.

Whatever. More money for me when i short it :)

My personal opinion regarding the manner is that they should just leave the hubble up there to rot. it would cost less to just dump it and build a new, improved telescope, cause you know its just going to malfunction again...

Well, now that the dates are past, they definitely should be halted. I don't know why they are still active. I am assuming that it's just early on Monday morning and they'll be halted by the end of the day.
