Great news! Ottawa is a large city but I live in a small, isolated city. I'm hoping when these plants are proven in service that we can build one here. In time. We could eliminate our landfill, become a regional collection point, and become a local power producer, selling our excess power to the grid. Oh, yeah, it will create new, hi-tech jobs in our city.
Because we are an isolated, inland city, all of our recycling materials must be shipped 8 hours by truck to central collection. That doesn't make economic sense. However, throwing away our plastic recyclables is wrong and is essentially throwing away petroleum product. Plasma gasification is the ultimate and efficient recycling strategy in our situation.
