The beloved gadget gets more users online than any other smartphone

A new study by market research firm M:Metrics reveals that nearly 85 percent of iPhone users access news and information on the mobile Web through their handy new gadget. That makes it the most popular gadget for doing so, according to M:Metrics.

Additionally, 58.6 percent of iPhone users have used a search engine on their phone, while only 37 percent of the larger smartphone community has done so. iPhone users were also twice as likely to watch mobile TV and/or video, according to the study, which gathered info from 10,000 users. An analyst for M:Metrics says the trend stems in part from the unlimited data plan offered by AT&T, but also from the ease-of-use issue—the iPhone makes the mobile Web far easier to navigate.
