Science is reinventing play, from extreme sports to gamification to ridiculous roller coasters to the playgrounds of tomorrow, and this issue is chock full of fun. Also, on a less fun note: Did global warming destroy my hometown?
Good gallery, but I have two suggestions for the PopSci web-designers:
1. A thumbnail page would be AWESOME. I accidentally closed my window at picture 40 and had to click my way all the way back through all the ones I had already seen.
2. Put the "next"/"previous" buttons in a consistent place!!! All I want to do is park my cursor over the button for the next picture and click through them all. Instead, here I need to constantly go hunting for the button every time there's a picture with a non-standard width.
Uh, Ditto. I used my "No Script" to get rid of a warning on item 89 (I believe), and when the page redrew, I was back to item #1.
Perhaps a "jump to" box next time?
vankrugermeer, I have thought the same thoughts every time I look at one of these galleries. I never understand why website programmers like to make things be on a a dozen undersized pages when they sometimes could fit all on one page. It is not unlike PC program dialog boxes that can't be resized, yet are only 2" square so the user must scroll through a menu to pick things. Very annoying.
My other thought is that there is ONE item in the above picture I would like to learn about, but I don't want to have to click through 129 gallery images just to find it. So I am not going to bother.

I am definitely agreed that all of these products are powerfully innovative, but how many of them are still in production? I think the OQO 2+ is a masterpiece of computer technology, but unfortunately now, the company is out of business, so no more of them will be produced. How many other items on this list is that true for?
Wow
Ok I have got to get one of those Ostendo CDM43 41 inch display computer monitors for my home based business. Aside from it being pricey, but it would look so cool for sure in my office.

I can't scroll past 3 on the gallery. X(
Never could scroll through all 129. My computer will not go past 21 or 23??
Same here. Cool stuff but I can't click past 21..
vankrugermeer is completely correct they NEED to do that!!! Oh and couldn't you have selected it in "history", thats what I do.
god, someone want to fire the webmaster? Get half way through then stuck with script errors. And now i have to start over??? Ill pass thanks.
Webmaster:
Tip 1:Put a vertical numbered listing down the side in the future.
Tip 2: For SEO purposes, you should really have a new url for each page. And what about bookmarking - and emailing a link....need a new url!!!
I want that display!
Can't get past 13. Very frustrating.
well i'm not having problems with the web page-i just wanted to comment on the gadget. i like that the casing absorbs the impact; i drop my phone so many times and it would be nice for the rugged outdoors

Man. I need the Zeo Personal Sleep Coach. I've been sleeping awful lately. It would be nice to know why.
