Because what else are you going to make an aluminium alloy with?
Wouldn't an adjustable wrench technically win the label of "the most versatile wrench available"? It's like the Continuously Variable Transmission of wrenches...
Why is it that all these fancy new wrench designs are made so bulky that all they can work on is a bolt head in the middle of a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood? Try fitting this thing on your car engine somewhere. Every one of these wham-o-dyne wrench ideas I have tried through the years is too bulky in some way to actually work on the job for which I needed it.
Wow this is a stupid idea. I hope no one is dumb enough to buy it.
Curious-One, adjustable wrenchs do not grip rounded nuts or boltheads particularly well. The majority of those damaged fasteners are the result of using adjustable wrenches when open end and box wrenches were the more appropriate choice.
The Craftsman Figure 8 wrench is a spline wrench that grips the fasteners on the fasteners flat sides. Socket and box end wrenches apply torque only to the corners, quickly damaging the fastener and barking one hands and fingers.
I'd say the PopSci staff chose wisely.
There's always time to do it better NOW.
Bladeyama and pscis, this wrench has a place in your toolbox for its superior gripping of damaged fasteners. Sure the heads are bulky and are not the best choice for every situation but conventional wrenches and sockets also have limitations.
There's always time to do it better NOW.
You know what the WORST thing about spending that kind of money on a graphics card is? That fact it will DIE when its cheap, $0.25 Chinese sleeve-bearing fan seizes, the thing that prematurely ends the lives of at least 80% of ALL graphics cards. It's a disgrace the companies who make them keep using such horrible support components.
