Unfortunately, we have thus far received an answer to only one of the questions we posed to try out these sites. Some, such as Go Ask Alice, answer just two or three a week, so it can take a while to get around to your question, while Ask a Chef has a limited team of experts who are also working professionals. More-general sites such as Google Answers can present a different challenge: Your question may simply get lost among all the others.

Never miss a game again now that you can tune in to your home channels on the road
By Steve Morgenstern

You're sitting in your Tokyo hotel room on a business trip and the only English channel on TV is CNN. But you don't care, because you've got a direct line back to your living room. You open your laptop, and suddenly you're flipping through your TV channels and seeing live American TV just as though you were on your couch. You can even access your TiVo and all its recordings. When you get back home, you can tune in ESPN on the laptop while you're grilling in the backyard.
Q: Are there any cool hacks for SPOT watches?
By Phillip Torrone
Posted 10.19.2005 at 2:00 am
You bet. But first, a primer: Smart Personal Objects Technology (SPOT) is a service from Microsoft that uses FM radio waves to send personalized text feeds-including news, stock quotes, weather, movie listings, appointments and instant messages-to SPOT-enabled wristwatches. A number of models are available from Suunto, Swatch, Tissot and others (see spotstop.com for a full list).
I've had a SPOT watch (two, actually, plus one for my wife) since their debut in 2004, and I love it.

Turn a backpack into a portable, solar-powered Wi-Fi hotspot, and share a high-speed connection anywhere
By Mike Outmesguine
Posted 06.23.2005 at 5:55 pm
I love the fact that more and more devices are sporting built-in Wi-Fi—the Sony PSP, smartphones, even Kodak’s EasyShare-One digital camera. The lone hitch: Wi-Fi is useless without a hotspot. Sure, thousands of spots are available, but few are free, and coverage is far from ubiquitous. What if you could marry the short-range power of Wi-Fi with the huge coverage areas of high-speed cellular services such as EV-DO to create a portable hotspot? You could use any Wi-Fi-enabled gadget anywhere you’ve got a cell signal.
