What are your thoughts/comments/concerns? I personally think that this has very little chance of happening, as it could be ordered to shut down but have the decision reversed. I'm shorting this, but a little help is needed! Also, could we have a lawyer tell us how hard it is to get a site like that to shut down?

I'm thinking short also, although I too would like someone with a little more knowledge to help us out. It just seems that if this judge reversed his ruling after numerous complaints from civil rights groups, then we've kind of set a precident.
I think that this stock will settle at around $45

If you check out the wikileaks web site, a major design goal is to make it impossible to censor the site - it could be blocked in one or more countries, but the odds of the whole thing getting taken down seem very slim.
I shorted 500.......
The stock is at around 55, obviously due to noob wave riders....
The chances are extremely slim and personally the spotlight is not On Wikileaks anymore and by the end of the year, the worst they could have would be a lawsuit..., but not a shut down...
The case is dropped. It's a definite short. No court will shut down any website.

Looks like this is ripe for a payout then.
The article does say "...but left open the possibility of filing another lawsuit in the same or in a different court." Just because the original judge reversed his position of closing the site doesn't mean some idiot from the Eastern District of Texas court will not close it.
I agree that it is a short but don't agree that it should pay out now.
If another judge orders it to shut down, can the site stay up pending an appeal?
If they filed a appeal in time before the order was carried out, they could avoid a shutdown
It won't make any difference if a U.S. court orders Wikileaks shut down. Check out:

Pay particular attention to the lines "Although the site was taken down by the server in the Bay area, it continued at several "mirror" sites. And it turned out that the owner of the domain name is an Australian citizen living in Kenya, so there's serious doubt whether any U.S. court would have jurisdiction anyway."
Nope, not going to happen. The U.S. can't order a foreign-owned web-site taken down. Even if the U.S. can enforce a shutdown of the U.S. servers, Wikileaks can continue operating overseas.
Now there might be some big stretch of a way where a court can order the domain name shut down... but that won't prevent Wikileaks.ca or Wikileaks.au from operating the website.
Done deal, this is a wash. Short short short.
And vulgarian weighs in!!!! I'm glad I'm holding short. Seriously, man, thanks for sharing the research. It's always appreciated.
I guess i will sell before i loose anymore money
