Here's the stuff from the stock page:
This proposition will pay out at POP$100 if Apple drops the price of the iPod Touch by August 1, 2008.
The main question is: Will they drop the price of a iPod Touch before August 1st for back to school special or something like that?

considering that their current back to school special is getting a free ipod touch with purchase of a new mac runs till september 15, i dont see this happening.

And this year, iPod touch 8 GB is eligible for the offer - that's what I'm doing; in fact, the iPod already shipped. Now they just need to get the MBP out.

You know what I saw at Target today? A $250 iPod touch 8 GB. And a $350 16 GB. Hmmm.

Scojac, if you look at targets website it looks like they discounted the touch models that don't have the new iphone 2.0 software. Whether that causes the prop to payout is up to the admins, but considering the price on apples own website has not changed, I'm going to have to say no.

The iPhone prices are based on a two-year contract with AT&T (or other carriers, in other countries). All phones cost more without a contract, than when they're "subsidized" with a contract.
I think even though the Iphone price is subsidized, people still have to pay the monthly payment that really make the Iphone VERY expensive in the long run....
Some people really dont want Iphone and the high price of the Touch might eat up the touch sales.....
I think along with some new features such as bluetooth, I think the touch might go down in price by maybe a $100......
Check out this link... http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/06/18/ipod_touch_supplies_seeing_shortages_changes_due_by_september.html
yes, the touch will likely see a price drop, but will it see it by august 1, 2009 like the prop says? no, even the appleinsider article doesnt expect it to happen till september, which like i mentioned in my first post is when the back to school special is over. if you follow apple at all they like to do this sort of thing, give stuff away to clear old inventory and once the supply or special is done they introduce a new item. also the ipod touch was introduced september 5, 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod_touch), and apple usually like to wait at least a year to introduce new features.
Thanks for mentioning the date..... I completely forgot it was August not september....
That would make more sense I guess since they can make as much money as they can with the back to school and then for the rest of us, they reduce the price to make the Touch more enticing....
Thanks again for reminding me of the date...
not a problem, just trying to help people make money...
of course i now realize i said the wrong date, as the prop ends august 1, 2008 not 2009 as i put in my previous post. hopefully i didnt confuse to many people.
I got the gist of it when you said August and i am sure people are smart enough to realize it was meant to be 2008
Y is the prop going up???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I have the same question about HOTAIR, its in the same position as this stock. It will happen but it will not happen before the prop ends. especially since it did not happen at wwdc earlier this month. The next big event is not till january and that will also be the one year anniverary (for the air). But I'm confident in my position and will hold it short till it pays out.

I agree with rahulr. The monthly payments are what make the iphone cheaper. So i would not expect the price of the touch to be going down. Maybe even up in 6-12 months because of the ever weakening dollar.
