Hi guys,
I'm starting this thread for stocks that are sure shorts, therefore the stock in here should be "in the toilet"
In my humble opinion:
the lack of news in general tells us that SGRBATRY is a likely long term short, yet its trading at 48 bucks
SPCHOTL is a pipe dream, and a good short at 37.75
FLYINGCAR an old stock that for a number of reasons that have been beaten to death in the old forums is a great short at 62.50. Just not gonna happen guys and if it does you've got 18 years to correct your position.
VOLHYBRID Chevy is going to beat them to this, and honda or toyota will probably beat chevy on this, 45.25 lots of profit to brave short sellers.
what do you all think is over valued right now?

you? lol, jk.
definitely short the flying car, we have enough worries finding energy to keep current cars running let alone a gas sucking flying car.
I think ORION is a sure short for sure because NASA changed the date to a year past the propostion's deadline, and with their budgeting skills it could easily be even longer than that.
I have to agree with you M_novotny. I think orion definitely belongs in the toilet.
HBLFIX
Prop ends in September, Launch is now scheduled for October.
ejcassel
railgun is another one, any value over zero is too much for this, a very good short.
well, i think its probably safe to say that gasprice belongs in here as well
FFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Too late. It's halted. It will pay out short.
from Shelton, CT
ITAX belongs near zero too. The bill they were considering to establish this tax failed.
I also feel RATEDM belongs here. Sales of mature rated games would need to fall by over 33% this year for it to pay long. (less than 10% sales pays long) GTAIV is rated M. There is at least one other M rated sequel to a popular game due out this year.
from Vancouver, Wa
i'd think that the WINDOWS seems like a really good idea for a short cause since when has microsoft ever done anything on time without months in delays? Plus the very vague mention of it isn't much to put ur faith on
...yeah
FAKEMEAT, see the thread in energy and environment
this turd might be to big to flush down
MSYAHOO lust landed in the bowl based on this news. It seems that the evil empire has given up. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/microsoft_yahoo
from Shelton, CT
BLU360 belongs in the toilet too.
It expires the end of this month. If the product was going to be released in less than a month, they'd be promoting it by now. Instead, they've said they won't be bringing out a bluray drive, but will be moving to downloaded content.
MSYAHOO should be inactive, but it is still trading!!!1
Whats up with that?????
rahulr: probably because this all happened between end of friday (saturday maybe) and today. The admins don't work over the weekend so something will probably be done on monday
msholdenct: I agree that BLU360 is a short but the prop reads: "This proposition will pay out at POP$100 if Microsoft formally announces a Blu-ray Xbox 360 console on or before May 31, 2008. " They don't need to actually come out with the blu-ray addition, they just need to announce it. However, I don't think they'll announce it since they've said multiple times before that there won't be a blu-ray addition.
from Vancouver, Wa
i heard in another post that they've stopped making the consoles so wouldnt that mean that it should pay out short? if they're not making anymore 360's they can be adding blu-ray, am i right or crazy out of whack?
I said that. I was illustrating why not to trade without links. As far as I know, they're still gonna make them.
from Vancouver, Wa
ahhhhh, you bastard.... oh well, i've shorted that stock ever since i first saw it. Now microsoft, totally nonconformist all over
Pennygone is a sure short.
the timeframe is too short for it to happen,
our whole monetary system would collapse without the 1 cent piece
the expense of recalculating every price so that it can be paid with a nickel would bankrupt us faster than the USSR in the cold war.
and decimalized money cant work without a 1 cent piece.
might as well outlaw the zero for chrissake
AIPOKER - I can't believe everyone is overlooking this opportunity to make $75k! This is a prop that is closing in about two months, and it is hugely overvalued at $75.
If you all remember it took two head to head competitions before Deep Blue was able to beat a chess master. That was chess... Poker is a whole different beast; now you bring guile and deceit into play which are very difficult to program for.
So my points are the prop is closing soon. Based on past history with computer vs. human competitions like this, the computer never wins on the first time out. Poker is even more difficult to program for than chess due to 'bluffing' being an inherent part of the game.
Put on your best Doyle Brunson 10 gallon hat, fix your resolve to go "All in!" and join me on the ride down to $0!
from Manhattan, KS
The part about AIPOKER that scares me is that is just takes beating *any* "professional" player. Not winning the World Series, but *any* player.
There is also more variability in poker than chess. The cards might just align for the computer.
Still, $75K and 2 months sounds attractive.
well dear fiends, it is with heavy heart and much cried into TP that VRGNGAL is left to float in the bowl. Branson says nothing is gonna happen within the timeframe, so this prop just went plop!
from Shelton, CT
I'm afraid BEEBACK is going to pay short.
News reports indicate the problem is continuing. I don't know when the USDA would make the announcement, but I think the information is probably available now.
Currently this prop is trading above $52.
BOTS belongs in the toilet because it pays out short 48 years from now.
...or long 48 years from now. Vote with your money!
from Manhattan, KS
BOTS isn't a long or a short. The timeframe is simply too long. Doubling your money in 42 years is still only a 1.something% annual increase. (Not 48 years, but it really doesn't matter.)
Besides, do you think PPX will exist in 42 years? How old will you be? Will you still be alive? Care?
WIIFIT
There is no possible way a fitness game for old people and for the wii
can sell better than ANY other game.
Sorry if I offended you with my old people comment, that's just my opinoin.
WIIFIT makes a great short at 45.50 or something like that.
SKYPEUS
great short at almost 50$
read it and you will now why
The official stats PPX is using have it at only 18.4% market share and it would have to get to over 50% with seven months remaining. The stock is currently riding at $55.50. If you're not shorting it now, look for a great opportunity to do so later in the year.
That would be FIREFOX I was referring to in the previous post.
NOSEEUM
yeah right
short it now at 50$
how could it be used as a cloaking device?
It would be to hard to find and put on and anyway people would just see trough it so it would be like trying to hide behind a big sheet of saran wrap!
you would have to have clothes on underneath.
So buy some shorts in this stock!
lol
i would say ROCKT but all you inexpirecned retards buy long and make the price go up.
this is the lowest trading stock at 6.00
that means there is a 6% chance of it happening.
why am i writing this?
anyone who owns long shares in this stock shouldnt be able to read.
Here's why they have it long:
1) wave riding - ROCKT has been bouncing along for the past few weeks. Make a few thousand here and there as you can get a good return on a small payment. -OR-
2) for the slight risk of loosing $6,000-$7,000 on a short payout, you could potentially reap $93,000-$94,000 on a long payout, or in other terms, you could achieve payouts 13 - 15 times your risk. There are some questioning the interpretation of the prop which could indicate a long payout. Heck, after loosing so much on the interpretation of HGHTEST, I'm willing to take that risk.
remeber that comment so i can laugh at your face when it pays out short
M_novonty belongs in the toilet!
Post I if you agree.
Its fun to bash people!
Be careful what you ask for Ethan_57, I am not sure you want to open up Pandora's Box like that. You should know what's likely going to happen, a can of whop a$$ comes out and whacks you right in the face. Don't say you did not know it was comming. :-D

I think that Mike does not belong in the toilet, so I won't post.
i know.
no one belongs in the toilet.
just wanted to see what would happen.
i picked a name, him because he made fun of my math typo.
Pennygone
the government said that they will not discard the penny.
It should pay out short
My oh my, where do I start?
Ethan_57, how exactly did I "make fun" of your miscalculation? All I did was point out an error and show a corrected amount. I even did it nicely, which is apparently more than you deserved.
For this I belong in the toilet? I wonder where that puts YOU... no place nice, I imagine. Perhaps at the bottom of a clogged up septic tank, facing up beneath the pipe with your mouth open, is where you belong.
I say this because even though you recanted, I don't think you meant it. I know a person who, if something he says has unexpected or unwanted consenquences, claims he was "just joking" even though he really wasn't. This type of attitude I believe to be what prompted your recantation.
Also, if you are going to insult someone, the least you can do is spell their name correctly. In my case, it starts with a lower-case m, followed by an underscore. After that, the letters n, o, v, o, t, n, and y, in that order, follow. Naturally, the commas are not included.
First, regarding your NOSEEUM comment, among others. Telling other traders to short, buy, sell, or cover any of their own propositions can fall under the headline of collusion. Collusion is trying to artificially manipulate the price of any proposition. The first penalty for collusion is a deduction of 25% of the offender's net worth from their portfolio. As you may be able to tell, collusion isn't recommended.
As for your "inexpirecned retards" comment - your own inexperience is showing. With a price of $6, that doesn't indicate there is a 6% chance of it happening, but rather that the consensus amongst those that play the game is that they feel it has a 6% chance of it happening, or a 94% chance of it NOT happening.
But why am I typing this? Someone who has shown themselves to have poor mental skills such as yourself won't be able to understand it.
Ethan_57, bashing people for the heck of it isn't fun, it's immature. Build a bridge and get over it.

good citizens of ppx land,
we the management of this thread work very hard to provide you with a clean and functional toilet. I would ask that you please don't throw foreign objects and or posts that don't relate to shortable stocks in the bowl. use just the amount of TP that you need, and please above all don't eat the urinal cakes.
Every other thread on this board is clogged with some kind of personal BS. Can we keep this one flowing easily.
Fine. I am Sorry, sincerely. You can say that i belong in the toilet, i don't care. I am not using collusion, merely sticking to the purpose of the thread. I have made over 8500$ from that stock in the last two days, not because i am influencing them in the forum but other players in the game agree. This thread is for stocks in the toilet not people, and i am sorry.
GOD
i suck at this game can someone please help me
Im just really confused right now. It keeps sending me back to my home page everytime i try to buy.
AIPOKER... again I say AIPOKER!
This prop is so overvalued at $73.25 it isn't even funny.
There is a month and a half left until this prop closes. There have been absolutely no news stories about any tournament or match coming up.
If you haven't shorted this prop by now you still have a great opportunity to make $73k!
Actually Keno, I'll need to you put on some nice yellow rubber gloves and go pull poor AIPOKER out of the toilet for me:
. : . Drum roll please . : .
http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~games/poker/man-machine/
The Second Man-Machine Poker Championships is scheduled for July 3 - 6 at the 2008 Gaming Life Expo in Las Vegas.
So there is at least the chance for AIPOKER to be redeemed and thrust out of the toilet into the high and lofty .... opposite-of-toilet.
from Clovis, NM
But in order for AIPOKER to win, it would have to bluff, or be able to call a bluff. The Chess playing maching that beat down Kasperov had every single possible move a chess piece could make programmed into it. It had strategies, formulas, templates. It was not doing any real thinking. Just massive number crunching. I just do not think technology is where it needs to be in order to give a machine intuition.
Not saying AIPOKER has no chance of closing up, I am just saying that it will be an interesting fight.
Ok, I'm gonna try again... since my posting yesterday ended up being such complete crap!
FIREFOX is another prop that belongs in the toilet.
It is June, there are 7 months left until the prop closes, and firefox's total share is 18%, that is up from 14% last year.
There is just no way it is going to get to 50% in the next 7 months.
Even if FF3 is a raging success, it won't account for a 32% increase in market share in seven months.
hi guys, the latest plop in the bowl is CLARITY which hits with a resounding splash but no gaseous emissions.
http://green.yahoo.com/news/ap/20080616/ap_on_bi_ge/japan_honda.html
According to this the first FCX hondas delivered today and they only plan to release a few dozen or so this year and is only leasing them in SoCal. with the prop requiring them to open up leasing to other areas by new years day this isn't looking too likely.
short short short flush
OK ATTENTION EVERYONE, I CONFIRMED WITH SOME OF THE POWERS AT POPSCI THAT A SIMULTANEOUS RELEASE OF THIS CAR IN JAPAN WOULD CAUSE THIS STOCK TO PAY LONG. I AM HEREBY FISHING THIS ONE OUT OF THE TOILET!
CLARITY IS A LONG
sorry for the mixup
JJACKHNIX everything I have read indicates that the release would be in southern Cal. with Japan coming in sometime over the first three years, have you read something different.
Initially, however, the Clarity will go only to a chosen few starting July and then launch in Japan this fall.
from the article I linked above

To reply to Bart (since I can't start a new AIPOKER thread....), yes, the Polaris poker bot CAN and DOES bluff. I remember reading one statement from Phil Laak (who was one of the pros last year) saying during one hand "If this play is a bluff, then I fear for mankind" and it was a bluff (can't find the reference sorry). What the bot is doing is more than number crunching and is more of a logic tree, with more than just binary options of 'raise, don't raise' etc. I believe it would be very similar to any educational book on how to play poker (fold 7-2 off suits, always raise with pocket Aces etc.) with more in depth analysis plugged in to respond to opponent actions.
New to this year's version is that the bot is able to adapt to the opponent's strategy; analysts have suggested that the humans were able to adapt to the bot's strategy and exploited it in the later matches. Couple that with the fact that the contest last year was as close as it was, I think this stock is only slightly overvalued and far from a sure short.
As for the TOILET, I noticed it posted elsewhere but not here: EVOTE should be in the outhouse. The prop requires 1,001 electronic votes within a single precinct to be discarded due to machine malfunctions. According to wikipedia (yea, not the best source but the only direct one I could find) says that the average precinct size is only 1,100 with the largest being 2,704. Taking a voter turnout of a generous 70% that would mean that the largest precinct would receive ~1,900. Thus, in only the largest of precincts and of those that use e-voting, the malfunction would have to be sufficiently late in the voting for the 1,001 votes to have already been cast and be in such a large scale that they are un-salvageable. I don't know about you but when 10 or so unlikely events must all happen simultaneously, the final event is that much more unlikely.
in short, short evote.

GMAIL!!!!
Sometimes the inefficiencies of this market are shocking. This prop is closing in about ONE WEEK and it is currently priced at over $51.
How is it that more than 50% of you believe that this prop has a prayer of paying out long. There has been no chatter about Gears being added to gmail. No rumors... nothing...
And that is how this prop is going to pay out in 10 days... at "0"
Here is your chance to make an easy $50k (or avoid a $50k loss if you are holding it the wrong way).
same thing with IPLAW
its closing in a week and is trading at 37$
Short it!
LONGLIFE is about to pay out long also.
Do you thing REDRAIN belongs in the toilet?
REDRAIN is 6-5 and pick em'. it is either gonna rain that day, or maybe it won't
I have a new nominee...

Here is a link to an article saying that Android is going to be delayed until after Sep. 2008.

A running mate for the previous nominee!
More confirmation that WINDOWS should be valued at 0.
http://www.microsoft-watch.com/content/operating_systems/doj_has_windows_7_why_not_you.html
Pay particular attention to the 6th paragraph which reads, "The evaluation is revealing. It's my contention that Microsoft plans to ship Windows 7 for holiday 2009—rather than in 2010 as some pundits surmise—and release a developer preview in October (to coincide with the Professional Developer Conference)."
There is simply no way they are going to get WinVII out the door by June '09.
If BULBS can be valued at $100, then, we can get WINDOWS down to 0!
WIKILEAKS looks to be a sure short, the lawsuit against them was dropped, and there is only 6 months left on this prop.
WIFLY doesn't look real possible since it requires american airlines to convert ALL its planes. If they have one single aircraft that they don't upgrade then the prop is a short.
$5 gas should close early and payout because heres a link to prove gas is $5 in Cal.
http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-45653
the AVERAGE price of gas has to be over $5, not just a random sampling of stations.
This is the link to check according to popsci...
http://www.fuelgaugereport.com/sbsavg.asp
The top price was on 6-19-2008 as of this posting at $4.61/gal. I have watched this price drop eight cents over the past week. As of today it's $4.51/gal.
Why do people have a knee jerk reaction every time there is a rise in the price of crude going up? Just because the barrel goes up doesn't mean the price will go up the next day. It takes time for the price to adjust. Think of it this way... the price you pay for corn today doesn't increase the popcorn on the shelf in the store.
There was also talk of output of oil being increased by 500,000 barrels a day in June and July. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/06/14/world/main4181473.shtml
This will keep this IPO from going long.

New Prop PS3UNITS
It took 8 years for the PS2 to reach 140M units. The PS3 is currently only at 14.5M units after almost 2 years. The PS2 continues to sell only about ~800k units fewer than the PS3.
No Way the PS3 can sell 126 M units in 1.5 years PLUS all the PS2 sales over that time period.
-NapkinG-
PS3 even winning the consolewars is very unlikely because of still growing popularity of the wii with the release of wii fit.
Parents dont like the underground gamer that most kids are in consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3. So the family playing together marketing and low price is going to make the wii win.
from Manhattan, KS
+1 on PS3UNITS being as big a short as I've ever seen. I think the people that set it up didn't understand that the PS3 prediction/hope of 150M units was over the *lifetime* of the PS3.
from Ottawa, Ontario
Wow, can't believe we've all missed FLEXSCRN!
I know I haven't heard about any marketing programs, and withought anybuzz started yet, I doubt we'll actually see a usable product on the market within a month.
I don't think I'll be able to find a toilet large enough to fit this prop.
-NapkinG-
NASA appears to have put the final nail in the coffin on HBLFIX with a press release today that they have decided not to move up the Atlantis launch date. Since HBLFIX requires the repair to take place on or before Sept. 30th and the shuttle mission will not launch until Oct. 8th, you've got between now and then to capitalize on $34.50 of headroom to short it.
Press release here:
http://www.spaceref.com/news/viewpr.html?pid=26222
My personal list:
5BUCKGAS (gas in CA would have to go up nearly 3 cents/day for this to go long)
CELLBAN (9 states have laws specifically prohibiting local jurisdictions from restricting cellphone usage)
TELSA (even if they ramp up production to their target for next year, they can't catch up)
RAILGUN (it takes years for new technology to get into the field)
PENNYGONE (no way congress can pass something this controversial before end of year)
HBLFIX (previous posters have covered this one)
#1 toilet stock has got to be Flexscrn. With only a week to go before it closes at PPX$0 and still trading near PPX$70.
from Austin, TX
Have to add TREO to this list. Too expensive, too not interesting.
BlackBerry Bold released in U.S. (BLACKBERRY)
Will the BlackBerry Bold arrive in the U.S. by Sept. 15? No, it won't, latest reports are it won't be around untill October. This is a short if I ever saw one, yet it's still selling at POP $50.75! So get out there and short it.
LCDVSPLAS has achieved GOOGLE status. Here is a twist to the old toilet thread. You are guaranteed a positive return if you short it over 100. PPX$0.50/share on a PPX$100 payout or PPX$100.50/share on a PPX$0 payout. Not for the weak of portfolio since it will tie up a large amount of your PPX$ until payout time.
So, while LCDVSPLAS is over 100, flush it!
from Ottawa, Ontario
Wow, gotta love it how that happens.
Don't forget the $0.25/share trading fee so your $.50/share profit is cut in half. But hoooo boy, that's an appealing profit if it goes short.
Also, if you've bought it long, get your profit out now! You'll be making more money now than if you wait for payout date.
-NapkinG-

This is totally the most awesome helpful thread.
FSM!!!
The Large Hadron Collider has conked out and will not be switched back on until spring. Apparently winter electricity costs in Europe are too high to run it.
Use google news search: large hadron collider at full power. Numerous stories detail how it has broken down, will take two months to repair, won't get turned on during winter, and the time lost was time for low power tests.
Since the collider never actually ran at full power, it couldn't be called "Fully Functional" and therefore has to be a short, and an excellent one at $81 a share, especially since it expires at the end of the month. Get your shorts in now.
Time to resurrect one of my favorite threads!
For those looking for a great place to invest their end of year bounty, look no further than LHC!
Payout language states;
"This proposition will pay off at POP$100 per share if the Large Hadron Collider is functional, sending beams in both directions and collecting data on the collisions by January 31, 2009."
CERN put out a press release in December stating;
“The top priority for CERN today is to provide collision data for the experiments as soon as reasonably possible,” said CERN Director General Robert Aymar. “This will be in the summer of 2009.” (emphasis added)
The prop is currently in the high 40's you can make a quick 40k if you jump on this now. This prop belongs in the tidy bowl.
