Hey Guys,
I did not forget about you-- my computer suffered a major and mysterious malfunction on Monday, and took all of my email and files down with it. It's been a little traumatic! BUT I am back in business- am at least operational again. I would have had this prop to you sooner save for the extenuating circumstances. I'm going to post this asap, but if you have feedback/suggested changes after it's live, we can still tweak it, so don't panic, or hold back.
Thanks!

"Will Windows 7 overtake Windows 2000 in OS Market Share?"
February was the month that the empire struck back. After a year and a
half of losing ground thanks to Vista (and Justin Long), Microsoft
began a comeback in February, with its operating system market share
increasing by the largest amount since June, 2007. This reversed a
three month decline in share, and accompanied a corresponding drop in
share by Macintosh. The cause? Windows 7. This replacement for the
much reviled Vista cornered 0.18% of the market, despite still
lingering in beta form. At this rate, Windows 7 is on pace to overtake
Windows 98 market share by the end of March, but still has a while to
go before surpassing the still widely used Windows 2000. All of which
begs the question: people still use Windows 98?!
This prop will pay out POP$100 is Windows 7 overtakes Windows 2000 in
market share, as reported by Market Share by Net Applications, by July
31st, 2009.

this date needs to be pushed out. Pretty sure the chance to grab the beta version of 7 is over so not many more people will be getting this before it's released. No one is quite sure when it'll be released either.
How about July 30th 2010?
Also, not sure what market share you're looking because the one here: marketshare.hitslink.com/operating-system-market-share.aspx?qprid=10
shows that windows 2000 is at 1.32%, I wouldn't call that widely used. Do you mean XP which has over 63%?
Two quick points. First off, the fewer props we have that terminate a year or more in the future, the better. You guys have complained about that before, so we're taking your advice. Second, people are still getting Windows 7 illegally, and people are still discarding Windows 2000, which means 7 will continue to chip away at market share (remember, the prop doesn't say "when windows 7 passes 1.32% of market share", but rather, it says "when it passes the market share of Windows 2000"). And yes, I think 1.32% is widely used when you consider that we're talking about millions of people, and that it's a decade old operating system. How many people are still using Mac OS X Cheeta? I would venture to say not a lot. I think 1.32% of all computers is a pretty sizable number for software written 2 presidents ago.
Whoomp! (There It Is)
i just wanted to confirm that you did in fact mean windows 2000.
I suppose I'll be accused of being the language police, but this prop uses the phrase "begs the question" improperly. You can be forgiven because almost no one seems to understand what it means, but I couldn't let it pass without comment.
Well, what is the proper usage?
'Well, what is the proper usage?'
I figured anyone who really cared could figure that out on their own. Since it's so commonly misused there are plenty of references illustrating proper usage. Here's one:

Agreed, if I cared that much I would look it up. I am just curious and lazy, so I would much prefer that I get everything handed to me on a silver platter. Thanks for the website, I now have learned something I didn't know before. One of the main reasons I still play the game.
frostyfam,
Honestly, I am also lazy, and that's part of the reason I didn't look for a reference to begin with either.
