It is now August 19th and the July contest hasn't even been awarded. There are stocks that are LONG past due for payout, such as LONGLIFE. I wonder if popsci.com is in the process of shutting the PPX down?? If so, they should quit making ads for it in the back of each month's magazine!!

I think some people have heard that two of the webmasters are away or something, leaving only 1 person to run the entire website and ppx right now. Having said that, I have no idea how long this has been the case and what impact that has on the contest.
As for LONGLIFE, well since there's no specified pay out 'date' they've likely forgotten about it or are waiting for some timing alert. Sure, they're justified in not paying it out as its 'open ended' but it should realistically already be closed.

LONGLIFE shouldn't be paying out until this week
Here's a link to the number of days in service:
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/phoenix/main/index.html
currently as I type this it's at 85 days. Therefore, it's not at the requirement of 90 days.

Well, there you go.

Hey amybaby
We're definitely not in the process of shutting down PPX. I won't deny that there are problems, but the ones you're addressing here seem slightly confused. LONGLIFE, for instance, is most definitely not past due for pay out. It landed May 25--so it's been only 85 days thus far.
As for the prize, the July contest has been awarded (or, in any event the process to award it has begun).

The winner in July was Avatarmage. He's a participant in ppxchat. He mentioned returning the paperwork for the prize late last week. I don't know if he's gotten it.

To Abby,
And the posts you choose to respond to slightly confuse me. There have been several posts asking for Admin clarification and have been ignored.
It is percieved that PopSci does not care.
What about the PPX homepage? Thye "Hot Stocks" and "PPX News and Announcements" have not been updated in months.
Hey, about Avatarmage.
Yes, he's gotten the paperwork. I asked him two days ago if he liked the PSP and he said, in so many words, that he hasn't gotten it yet. But making AM wait for things is good. It builds character.
go to www.ppxchat.com or feel milkweed's infamous wrath! Y'dig?
I can't believe that this site is still featured in every issue of popsci... it's not supported at all! first clue obviously is that the recent updates and announcements hasn't been updated in ages. Really kills any motive for me to actually participate here.

The ad in the back of the book is doing exactly what it was meant to do: bring more activity to the popsci.com website. There IS support for the PPX, just not as much as most of us expect or wish for (I mean, the props are eventually paid out).
Your motive to play here needs to look beyond the frills and updates and judge based on the core trading game. That's one reason why I'm still here.

For those who were concerned, Avatarmage mentioned he got his prize for the July contest yesterday. (about a week after he sent back the paperwork)

I noticed that the new ipos are getting really lame. lowergas haven't we seen this before? and to many are way too optimistic with most stocks ending short
What about China winning the most medals. That IPO should have been closed last week.
Closed last week? The concluding ceremonies just finished as of last night. So the china winning the most gold ought to payout today, but the likely-hood is slim. It will probably be tomorrow or the next day after tomorrow.
