What do you mean by "Active"

I doubt you'll get an accurate picture because many people don't participate in the forums.

Currently, there are 3404 people who have experienced growth in their portfolio this week.

But it's only Tuesday.

Some people buy and hold. They may have portfolios that aren't moving or that have gone down this week. Some people only go on the web site periodically.

Participation may be up or down from normal this week because of school vacations.

In any event, your best estimate of active players is apt to come from checking the weekly leaderboard on Saturdays and seeing how many people have shown growth in their portfolio.

You'll end up counting some ghost accounts for people who quit, but you'll also leave out people who are playing but just didn't have a good week.

You can't look at both growth and losses to account for people who had a bad week?

there are only 8000 or so that have risen above $260,000.
And I am currently active.

So far I've gained about the same amount I've lost due to market swinging on some of my short stocks that I had "shaved" off last weeks gains. :-(

But do count me as active, even though I do feel like a zombie due to lack of sleep last two weeks, new baby at home and an active two year old toddler does cut down on sleep. :-)

you know, in your portfolio it says your rank. I, being new to this, am 5449 of 24109. Doesn't this mean that there are 24,109 players?

There are some players who are below you, they gambled and lost big Some are at 250K and never traded anything. There are maybe 5550 active ones or past traders who made money but quit later on.
But in reality there are about 4K active players.

"Active" meaning I reinvest my funds after a cashout or make changes if anything in the news catches my eye. I probably haven't made a trade in a couple weeks.

I would be one of those significantly below 260,000 but i am coming back and i am active. i forgot ppx for a time but just after new years i looked at it and all of my stock that ended at 2007 did not pay out. but i am coming back and if you look at your leader board of um % gained i am second ha for me but i am still significantly under 260,000
