What the hell is up with PPX calculating a downturn in this prediction. I'm somewhat invested and have been following all the news stories on this one... just yesterday Canada declared deep-water channels open for the summer.
Mods need to pay a little better attention to this one.

...and I meant deep-water channels throughout the Northwest Passage.
Commercial shipping lanes!

This one will require a company to actually make a commercial shipment. That means carry something for hire through the historical northwest passage. Being open is not good enough, only going part of the way is not good enough, and making the trip with no commercial shipments would seem to me to be failing the shipment requirement. Commercial shipments are tricky in that they require insurance and bonding in addition to a navigable passage.

Being possible is a requirement for such shipping, but I would not think sufficient for success.

In 1969 the icebreaker Manhattan carried a single tokin barrel of crude thru the northwest passage. Does this meet the prop criteria? I found this info on Wiki under "Manhattan (ship)".

Apparently what was happening with PPX is that many of us knew better than to listen to the global warming alarmists. I've had this shorted from the first day. So excuse me if I say: "HA HA!".

BTW -- unlike most warm mongers here, I've been to the high arctic (all seasons) & I know what it's actually like there.

That's a joke (barely) -- but, it is a lot colder than people realize. In winter, anything above - 40 seems quite mild.
